This is a central Texas whipsnake. Confusing ID though because it's an extra dark one.

My eastern hognose used to do it all the time.

It's been 368 days since I've seen a snake on my property. Strange, as the previous year I found 5 copperheads, a hoggy, and several glossy snakes.

Had a huge millipede in the house the other day
I caught him and put him outside.

My wife went to mow the yard yesterday and called me almost immediately about a snake. She'd found a hognose crawling along our porch. Less than five minutes later, she called me again. This time for a ribbon snake under one of our downspout splashblocks. I'd posted just a few days ago about how I hadn't found one at my house in over a year, and then found two almost simultaneously.
Also, I'm pretty sure I pulled a hamstring trying to catch the ribbon snake.
