Def a coral, just a very dark one that shows the rhyme isn't always a safe method of ID. You'll see some that are completely black and yellow, with no red.

Yes, it's a very dark red. I'm surprised at how many coral snake pics we get. I didn't think they were so prevalent.

Prairie kingsnakes often get confused with Great Plains ratsnakes (and vice versa). I think the main difference is prairie kings have an arrow on their head that points to the neck while GPR's have an arrow on their head that point to their nose.

GPR's are also considerably more "bug-eyed" and the neck thins out before it hits the hit. PK's have no neck.
