Went outside to go to the garage and saw this guy by the back door. Confident enough it wasn't poisonous to kill it, not confident enough to let my kids walk in the back door.

I grabbed a hoe and gave him a little shove and he scurried over behind a bin I keep my BBQ stuff in. Just checked and he's still there.

Was I right or do I need to take my kid's into account?

Busy night. I think they had a nest under my grandkid's playscape back behind the house. Dog alerted us to the closest one then the hunt was on. Every time I made a pass another was traveling by(7 total).

The tree was just where I piled them up for the photo op. I haven't heard or seen any cicadas but could be out there. They were all within 50' of each other moving out towards the pasture I guess to hunt and were easy to spot with the flashlight. Never seen anything like it. It's outside our lawn but inside the farmstead area. Glad I recently mowed it pretty short.

Yea my wife is out of town and got a little worked up with the pic and news. She's a country gal but of course wasn't too happy about her babies playing in the area. Made several more sweeps and nothing. I always kill a few every year but…..daanngg.

From what I've learned here, I don't see the mascara in that Pic (and may not in real time) & the eyes are round...

but NO vertical lines on the jaw...
Is that the best clue?
