There's easily 1000 people in line. I should have come earlier.
I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Just go up to the front and ask if anyone has seen the cobra you brought and show them an empty box… that should clear them out

Ended up with a male tricolor South American hognose, and a female red phase western hognose

I know a lot about a little, and a little about a lot.

Both are cool but that tricolor is freaking badass

I almost got the top gray banded king snake in the last picture, but it was only feeding on live mice, and I don't deal with feeding any live mice. I only feed frozen thawed.

Aren't you getting a Gray Band too?

Yeah, the tricolor is badass. I wanted one for a very long time; I'm glad I got this one from a guy out of Atlanta. Super nice guy, said to text him or email him anytime I needed any assistance.

I got the red phase western, because I used to have a pair of them about 20 years ago, and I have always liked that color phase of hognose.

I didn't find any Mexican hognoses there, unfortunately.

I was going to, but it's only on live mice, and I don't wanna deal with that.

You can buy anything at this expo.

I was kind of looking for a Suboc too (transpecos rat snake).

I'm going to make this an annual event I come to!

And, hopefully in a couple years, I'll be a vendor!

And, a Venezuelan red foot tortoise for a friend.

What are those weird bumps on the top indigo? Or is that the enclosure

It's the enclosure. Air holes.

Curious… how do you transport them back?

What are they feeding the indigos? I assume they'll take to rodents but not sure if they're finicky eaters like some other snakes when captive.

They most likely feed them Lizard, scented mice, and then switch them over to unscented later. I had an Eastern hognose, eat mice; I tricked him by putting a frozen thawed baby frog on the mouse head, and he would eat it every time.

It was not just a mouse's head. It was a frozen thawed full mouse.

I was at a reptile convention a few years ago and they had many venomous snakes including cobras for sale. I was told I just needed to file a permit and pay a $20 fee and I could buy one. Is it really that easy to own a freaking cobra?

Yep. My buddy has tons of hot snakes.

Me - not interested.

The most $$ snakes I've ever seen were $80-160k in Dallas at an expo 20 years ago.

Most common where ball python morphs. Which is pretty common. Hognoses are just my favorite.

I've seen videos of some collector when he is "unboxing" some of the snakes he bought - black mambas, cobras, boomslangs, browns -- f'ing crazy.

are "morphs" hybrids that are selectively bred, or just genetic anomalies like albinos?

Selectively bred for specific traits; now they're using genetic testing as well, to more definitely get the traits that they're looking for.

Back in the day, it was just trial and error.

With just hognose, there's probably 60 to 80 different morphs.

With ball pythons probably 150 if I'm guessing.

All the snakes are. Yay! South American hognoses can be picky eaters. I had to brain the frozen thawed pinkies (poke a hole in head, brain oozes out) to get them to eat.

Of course, I've kept Eastern Hogs before, and had no issues. They are difficult eaters as well.
