He was still there, stuck in an a hydraulic fluid bottle:
Unfortunately for him he was stuck and wasn't getting out any time soon. Took the opportunity to get a "selfie"
With several thousand dollar dogs frequenting the area and with his lack of mobility, and executive decision was made to terminate the snake. I could have relocated him but I also don't have a dog to be concerned with.

I had to cut the container top off to remove the body. You can see the blue ring on the body.

I like snakes too but I was around 4 guys with stereotypical OB fear of snakes and they also have some really expensive trial dogs that frequent this area. Unfortunately, it was the right decision.

I'm curious... How would you safely free him in that scenario? Could it be done or was he eventually going to be a goner anyway? I don't handle poisonous snakes, and never been around anyone that does.

Ah. Thx. I couldn't figure out what that was. Only viewed on a mobile and enlarging just blurred image. Racking my brain on the other 3 to figure out what the heck it was. Lol
Completely neutral. It really didn't matter to me.
I could have picked up the container by the handle with a really, really long stick and carried him a ways off. Eventually he would eaither be eaten or get him self free.

We were with Vance Flowers (Mills County Game Warden) doing a youth hunt for these orphan boys from New York just outside of Goldthwaite on Saturday.
He was wearing snake boots. I asked him if he just preferred those boots or if he thought rattlers were a risk out there this time of year (I've never seen one in winter, but they're everywhere other times).
He just looked at me and laughed. I was rethinking my previous assumptions! Was your pic a recent event?
