Older photo I just found. A while back I discussed the suspected copperhead playing hide and seek in an Oak tree at the lease.

.38, 12f Mane is the snake guy. If he says it is a hognose, it would be a hognose. Based on a lot of input in this thread, hognose have some interesting characteristics. For example when they are threatened they first play cobra, which can be a bit unnerving when you first see their display. If that does not work, they roll over and play dead, which makes some funny YouTube videos.

I'm going to be out at the lease and see a cottonmouth, think awww hell, I know what I'm looking at, Texags has taught me that is 100% a hognose or rat snake. Then get bit and be effed.

ETA: in reality I'll avoid all snakes. Just funny how I look at them differently after following this thread. And I am actually getting a lot better at identifying them because of it to. Guessed hognose on the last one.
