No Man's Sky comes out on the Switch today. Looking forward to playing it on the Switch!

New to Switch, new to Pokmon.
9 yr old daughter enjoys looking at and sorting Pokmon cards. Which Pokmon game would be best for her?
I'm not sure how the different games/editions work.

How much longer do we estimate the Switch's lifespan to be? 2-3 more years?

If it's a game she wants to get into and learn how to play on Switch, Sword/Shield or Let's Go Pikachu/Let's Go Eevee would be a good choice. They're definitely on the easier side of games. Sword/Shield is probably the easiest version of the game that's been made. The newest versions of the game come out in like 2 weeks.

If you're looking for quality of game on Switch, Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl would be the way to go, but they're definitely harder. I remember the last fight in those being frustrating when they first came out on DS in 2006

Probably Pokemon Diamond or Pearl - this is a remake of an older game with updated graphics/mechanics, but plays closer to a traditional Pokemon game than does Pokemon Arceus. Arceus has stealth mechanics which could be more difficult for a kid that doesn't play a lot of games.There isn't much difference between the diamond or pearl edition other than a few pokemon are specific to each one so you would need both games to truly "catch them all".

Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu/Let's Go Eevee is a good game for kids. It is easier and not as complicated as the other Pokemon games. It is a remake of the original Game Boy games Pokemon Red/Blue/Yellow with the catching mechanics from the mobile game Pokemon GO.

So my kid is crazy about Minecraft like every other kid in America. I randomly bought him Minecraft Dungeons. He couldn't care less about it, but man, I love it. It's definitely a dungeon crawler loot game, so YMMV if you don't like those. But if you want something reminiscent to Diablo III that's more casual, check it out. I haven't played online or anything like that. Just the main campaign. It's a fun little game to pick up and play in handheld mode while the missus is watching TLC or something.

Posted this earlier in the thread, but a very similar game is Immortals: Fenyx Rising. I enjoyed it a lot.

Waiting for the PC version but I can't wait for that and Front Mission Remake. Front Mission is a series that should probably have more entries.

Wow. I bought this for my kid about 6 weeks ago and had no idea. Ill have to play it with him tonight.

The arcade version of this game is pretty cool. As you play, it spits out minecraft cards with a UPC code on it that you can scan into the game on a reader located next to the controls. it gives you different skills, abilities, weapons, pets, costumes, etc, and you can take the cards home.

If this even lives up to 50% of my hopes for it I'm going to be pumped. FFT is probably my favorite game of all time.

Super Mario Odyssey is great, it's a lot of fun. I love that it's a mash up of so many previous Mario games including when you go from 3D to 2D.

Digital is definitely the way to do it. Get the largest SD card you can get, and have a library of games to boot up whenever you want.
