I have a powermat, but am now thinking it was a waste of money. It's great if you have a work blackberry, personal cell phone, and an ipod that you use all the time and must charge everynight, but I don't.

Still having issues with the Fresh ROM's on EVo not letting my phone sleep. I really wish I could find the combination of app or apps and what Flipz removes from Fresh that would cause this to happen.

I put the latest build on last night and not an hour later...100% awake time. Well, back to rooted stock ROM for now.

yup. This is my 2nd EVO and it has the same issue.

That is why it leads me to believe that one of my Apps doesn't like how Flipz thins out his Fresh ROMs. There is some HTC file that Flipz must take out that then makes my phone no sleepy!

I just realized my battery dropped 14% in 15 hours. Granted that was only with infrequent email checking and 1 or 2 short calls, but still. From 94% at 11am to 80% at 2am...and juice plotter has me at 31 hours remaining. I love fresh 3.3.0.1 stock htc kernel with setcpu.

apparently King got banned from XDA. I only use his kernels (currently BFS#11) so here's a link to the place to download them from if you want it.

edit: WARNING. some random guy alluded to king being pissed and that he might strike back by loading his kernels with viruses. i cant imagine thats a real possibility but it warrants a disclaimer to proceed at your own risk...as with anything we do outside of userspace

OK so I just bought my Evo two days ago. A few questions:

1) What is the best case? I need one that preferably that I can clip into my belt since I will be using it at a hospital.

2) I really dislike the little bottom dock with the + and Phone buttons, etc...any way to get rid of that? I kind of like the clean layouts yall have - how do I go about getting that on my phone?

1) i love my otterbox case. i think there might be a holster available for it too, not sure. got it at the sprint store for around 35 bucks.

2) you want 'launcherpro' home replacement. it'll let you customize the bottom dock (and even let you add more so you can scroll through it). It will be used instead of HTC Sense so you will not be able to have the Sense-specific widgets but theres a ton of great replacements out there.

I've had a problem with my Evo that I only notice when I occasionally listen to music through it, and only music ON my phone, not streaming like Slacker or Pandora. It randomly skips around songs, during the middle, beginning, whatever, it will skip to the next song or restart it.

Anyway, I finally got around to Googling it as I was having trouble with it as I'm sitting at my computer with it hooked up to my speakers. I found this discussion related to the Evo (and others):

Apparently, because the headphone jack is made to support the headphones with controls on them, bumping/touching the jack or plug will trigger this skipping. I was a little skeptical, but tried it and sure enough that's the problem. Anytime I put pressure on the plug or jack, it skips/restarts etc. This is only with music on my Evo because I assume Slacker and Pandora don't support the headphone button controls.

Anyone else experienced this? Noticed it? Have any solutions other than try not to bump it? Just the pressure of me pushing the top button to turn of the screen triggers it.

I've had the same problem. Download Headset Blocker form the market. It's a widget that you turn on and off when you play music.

Anyone else getting the "mandatory voicemail update?" It's annoying because the icon sits on there and you can't update because it is Sprint OTA. I'm on Fresh 3.4.

4g coverage is expansive but doesnt cover every square inch, so if you want to stream slingplayer or youtube while driving across the city it will get interrupted. but otherwise its awesome. sprint just flipped the switch for 4G in my neighborhood at last, previously 4G stopped about a half mile away.

Call quality is and always has been perfect.

i grabbed the HTC Sync 3.0 for the evo and synced my itunes top rated playlist just fine. On the phone, its buried about 4 directories deep but Winamp app finds them all fine.

Its dumb that itunes (the new sync will also do windows media player) is the best way for me to sync music. But it is what it is. I know the new winamp does sync but I can't get the wifi syncing to work, i had to use USB, and it dumped each artist in a separate folder on the root directory instead of in /Music, even though I changed the option in preferences. Bleh. That seriously needs to be addressed. I hate itunes and want it gone but unfortunately theres no good solution that has worked for me...not doubletwist, not winamp, nothin.

Well, still waiting on either CM6 with 4G or Fresh to come out with an updated ROM.

Right now I'm using 3.4.0.1 with Netarchy 4.2.1 Smartass no HAVS, seems to be working really well.

Have you tried the VVM update in Fresh Updater? That worked for me.

Also... any of you guys who have been with out a case, have you noticed any scratches on the phone or the back camera lens?

I'm thinking of going without the case. It seems a lot lighter and less bulky without it.

So I went back to fresh after trying a few other ROMs including Myn's Warm and Frozen, and it's not a contest. Fresh is my favorite by a mile. The phone runs faster and has a better battery life, and it's not really close. With mild to moderate use, I can get about 60 hours of battery life. I don't have problems with apps being incompatible, and it seems like it's the only ROM that doesn't have many bugs. If you are thinking rooting and installing a custom ROM, I'd definitely go with Fresh.

I bounce around a lot with ROMs and have to say the best out there right now is Fresh & Azrael X by Rick Simon. Currently running the latter and loving it.
