How many season's have come and gone where this would have been the smart move. Instead of trying to get a decent draft pick when you know there isn't a shot at winning it all, they win 1 or 2 games that pushes them way down the draft board and then they draft some unknown and miss on some star players. So frustrating...
I you're going to tank you should be completely hitting the reset button. Trade Dak, CD, Pickens and anyone else. Start fresh with a new wave of key players. Obviously we aren't going to do that.

Agree. They don't know how to build a cohesive roster. Tanking is only helpful if you do. Otherwise, it just sends you into oblivion for as long as it takes to find a good QB again, at which point, you'll just be what you are now. I think their best move is to leverage the upcoming draft assets as best as possible to help the defense (via trade or use of picks)
Basically, it's the best chance for this blind hog ownership to put a complete roster together, albeit the window will be short .

Definitely rooting against, but our #1 pick won't improve unless they miss the playoffs (which looks extremely unlikely). Can only hope that they don't get the bye and that they lose in round 1.

He was a really good player but he's had career altering injuries. We could use a SDE, but agree not sure what you're going to get out of him.

I tend to agree. My first reaction was it doesn't seem like something they typically do. Not sure why they feel so desperate for help. They just won the SB so not sure they are feeling any sort of serious pressure right?

On the guys we might be bringing in I'd be stunned if it wasn't a SDE or DT, and a safety. Absolutely just guessing here.
His dead cap if they traded him is $40mill. That $100+ is if they cut him because of future guarantees, but in a trade, the recipient takes those guarantees on. Cleveland just eats the previous cash they already paid him (via bonuses) but hasn't been amortized against the cap yet. Not to say they'd do it because Watson is a major cap problem next year already, but it's not as big of a bite as the first glance "Garrett dead money" may seem
