Mental health issues are no joke. He went from scoring his first NFL TD Monday night to apparently taking his own life a couple days later

Man this is so sad. I can't even imagine what his teammates, especially Dak, are going through. Hopefully the team can come together this week on the bye week and do something in his remembrance.

Didn't even think about Dak having others close to him take their own lives. Just ****ty, and horrible all around. **** man.
Big test for Schotty. And not in a way you'd ever want. I feel for him. At least it's a bye week I guess.
I know that the games/results don't matter in times like this, but this will definitely be an interesting test for Schotty and his new coaching staff:

You gotta talk about it and want help. You have one of the biggest mental health advocates in all of sports on your team in Dak Prescott, and I would assume an organization that takes it very seriously. You need to be able to speak about it and want to change. Help can only meet you half-way.

No doubt. It's still very looked down upon for males, and esp black males, to talk about their issues. Therapy is an awesome thing, and has a great place in society. Maybe this will push that need further.

It's unfortunately not always that simple and not always some entirely conscious choice about what you want or don't want.
Anyhow, just awful.
He might've been going there, but immediate area could mean almost anything within 50 ft of the car. I sure hope he wasn't found by one of the players or staff at the star.
Based on the police dispatch tape, he was found by police in a portapotty.
I'll be interested to see the whole timeline, etc. once the investigation is completed and we get all the info.
It seems like the wellness check was dispatched after the car chase and subsequent crash had already happened, so I wonder if he was already in a bad mental state or if the car chase + crash drove him to commit suicide.
Hopefully they can piece together all the details so his family can have closure (and maybe an autopsy too).

David Moore just reported that he heard that the wellness check happened while the car chase was already in progress.

Trust me...as someone who has dealt with depression, there doesn't have to be "something". You're just sad.
Probably a good thing the team is on bye this week because I couldnt even imagine attempting to practice after something like this happens

As someone that has dealt with a therapist, and has been sad, it's not just me being sad.

Clinical depression, the disease not just the emotion, isn't mere sadness. I'm not sure I'd even call it sadness at all. It's a pathological hopelessness both way out of proportion to your situation, and completely immune to logical reasoning.

Sad that I didn't even know it was a bye week. I'm 100% locked into the Aggies right now and I usually don't figure out when the Cowboys are playing until I wake up on Sunday. I need to pay attention, I know we have some Thrs games coming up.

The other thing is that people struggling with depression tend to drink or do drugs more to escape their pain, and it creates a flywheel that drives them deeper into it. Almost like "are the drinking because they are depressed, or are the depressed because they are drinking too much!"
This sound like clinical depression. I live in Frisco and it was so sad seeing helicopters flying over that area for their news stories.
I will say a good thing about Jerry. At least he keeps the cowboys out of that international play bs. I can't imagine the coaches and players enjoying that schedule
