The political rants are bad enough….but then you have the conspiracy nuts claiming weather manipulation either via seeding or HAARP.
I can affect weather just as much as client change activists can. But they spend trillions of dollars.

Who is "they"? How did "they" affect this particular weather event?
"They" in the context of my post refers to dumbasses that think by taking trillions of our dollars and spending it on crap that only hurts the American people will somehow stop the earth from melting.

If you're interested in understanding the role that hill country geology plays in creating the conditions that make it possible/probable for severe flash flooding like we saw on July 4/5, this is a really good video. 100% apolitical.

Interesting what he said about the baked ground allowing the water to run off even faster. I would have thought parched ground would absorb a good bit of water.
I'm a little late on this but this is why even a couple of inches of rain triggers flash floods here in the Arizona desert. The water does not absorb and just starts running to the lowest point. We got 1.5 inches the other night and the streets were full. For us that could be all the rain we get for a full year.

I'm assuming this page is going to get flooded with complaints about her. I 100% understand docs having political opinions. But when you enter certain professions, like the military, when you're in service certain standards are required of you vis a vis those opinions. Wishing harm, which this was clearly intended to do, on people b/c of their political opinions brings into question your ability to do that specific job. She may be perfectly capable of doing research or other items, but seeing patients seems to be very questionable and should require some time off before being able to do that again.

I would expect the EXACT same response on someone that made public comments about Biden supporters, or regardless of political thoughts people wishing harm on people because of skin color or vaccination status or what have you. There is a temperament and demeanor required of physicians who are seeing patients and those patients should expect that they will not be treated differently because of some external factor. I'm not sure this doc has that. I'd be curious to go through her X or other social media history to see what else has been posted.

They trying to put same blame on Trump for the rain, that Biden earned for lack of response to a hurricane. In all fairness I'm not sure Biden knew it rained.

At this point I dont think he knows what rain is.

I've never been big on the doxxing thing but sometimes people deserve it and it can be a public service. I'd want to know if my pediatrician is deranged enough to think kids deserve to be swept away in a flood just because their parents voted for Trump or Abbott.

Happened to catch Karl Rove's comments on FOX a while ago. He points a finger at Texas River Authorities- pointing out how well the LCRA deals with flooding issues. There are umpteen river authorities in Texas but let's take the one encompassing Kerr County.

Quote:

The Upper Guadalupe River Authority was created in 1939 by the Forty-sixth Texas Legislature "to control, develop, store, preserve and distribute" the waters of the upper Guadalupe and its tributaries. Because of problems unique to the hilly terrain and a narrow drainage basin in the Guadalupe headwater area, the creating act limited this conservation and reclamation district specifically to Kerr County.

1989 the directors approved a significant tax increase to fund the installation and maintenance of the Kerr County flood-alert system. The authority is governed by a nine-member board of directors appointed by the governor for six-year overlapping terms. Administrative offices are in Kerrville.

https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/upper-guadalupe-river-authority

Now according to Rove, who has interests in Ingram, the "local" folks declined to address the issue, using the LCRA as an example of done good v. kicked the can down the road.

Just FYI and an inquiring mind.

Figured it wasn't worth another thread, but why is Newsom holding a press conference about wildfires from 6 months ago?

Was this already planned prior to the weekend or is he trying to take attention away from what's happened in Texas?

This board also politicized the devastation that happened last year in Appalachia

People criticized the post disaster recovery efforts in NC, and rightfully so. Many are still homeless and dead broke after that event. FEMA's "response" to that event was horrendous. "Hey here is $750 that you have to submit a bunch of paperwork to even be considered for."

After the July 4th floods, people have been outright saying that Republican parents of the kids that tragically passed deserve it simply for the way they voted. If you do not see the difference, then you're beyond help.

Democrats have gone all in. This is going to be one of their campaign issues next year, especially in Texas.

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. Most everybody affected knows something about Texas hill country and our flash floods. They happen. It sucks but it happens. Maybe unfortunately not often enough to keep people alert. Last big one there was 87. Maybe folks forget.

I suspect her firing is only the beginning of her pain. Abbott's office will go after her license.

It just so happens her license expires the end of November. Something tells me her renewal may be a bit more troublesome.
when / if this happens , I fully expect her to post a tear filled rant about freedom of speech being stolen from her. And it should happen

Not clicking on that as I don't want to get pissed off, but I can't despise liberals anymore that I do after these last few days. The LA riots, trying to harm police officers with rocks, etc IMO pale in comparison to things I've seen from liberals these last couple of days. Maybe because it hits too close to home for me, but their behavior is downright disgusting. I can't imagine being a parent involved in this tragedy and seeing some of the crap they've been putting out. I truly pray that none of the parents or anyone affected by this flood that lost a family member does not come across some of these Tik Tok videos or articles from some of these scum politicians.

Exactly. Sorry they haven't told you much, but maybe bc it's you didn't need to know and those who did were in the know.

That said, I'll give her some grace as watching KSAT12 live she was on for a good amount of time this weekend. I'm sure she knew people impacted and the stress from being on air that long could have been weighing on her.

You complain about people being long winded and not giving enough concrete information at a press conference so you decide to be long winded and not give enough concrete information in your newscast.

That's because it doesn't fit their agenda/narrative. I still can't believe the media would be this corrupt and stupid in reporting the news. You can dislike Trump every day and twice on Sunday, but GD it, be honest, moral and ethical in reporting the news.

The media is the main culprit of why these people have so much hate in their hearts. The media outlets continue to be the domestic enemy of our country, brainwashing the uneducated (and sadly also the educated) to hate anyone who is republican and voted for Trump

It's amazing how the media has taken so many in hook, line and sinker. And your point about the educated hits home with me. I know quite a few lawyers -- which means that they had to get into law school and were educated on analyzing facts and critical thought -- who just repeat media BS without any consideration for truth, or logic, or realism.

On point for this thread, one of these lawyers who I know has rabid TDS, which is not uncommon for lawyers. But this one is different. He's an Ag. He was in the Corps. He has risen to a high rank in the Army Reserves. Some of you probably know him. He made a comment right away about cuts to NOAA being to blame, and how we voted away FEMA response. He was insane during the election spouting off MSNBC talking points, even if fully debunked and totally unbelievable to anyone who can think rationally.

Sad.
