Its unfortunate Z let it escalate....but I also think there is some blame on Trump and Vance with how they've played it. Z has everything to lose so he should have thought about that.

Nothing?

Right now he has nothing. With us going to the negotiating table on his behalf...he has at least some sort of leverage. But we're not going to do that for free any longer...and that's what he hates. He doesnt like that he'd be paying us, instead of us paying him (like we've done).

Without us he has zero leverage. WIth us he gains continued support, rebuilding efforts and leverage at the table with Russia. Everyone recognizes that. His own government knows it, which is why they are freaking out right now.

We explicitly said no more aid and no security guarantees. Right now Zelenskyy has a stalemate in the east of his country he probably made a bet that a better partner who is willing to provide guarantees is Europe. Time will tell if he is making the right decision or a horrible mistake.
if that's his thinking, then here's a spoiler. Its a horrible mistake. Europe has their own problems. They cannot bankroll a stalemate of a war in Ukraine. Not without the US they can't.

Trump and Vance are known quantities. They also hold the purse strings.
Zelensky has no cards to play.
It was stupid.

They're too proud to admit that. They're back to their warm blanket of blaming Trump for everything and about being silent for 4 years.

1. Cut off all funding to Ukraine.

2. Give the Russians access to starlink and cut service to Zelensky's army.

3. Give Putin strategic information as to Ukrainian troop locations and movements. Let Putin overrun the Ukrainians and rid the world of Zelensky. Ukraine won't ever be a member of nato.

4. In repayment for this get Putin to sign over the mineral rights to Ukraine. Work the deal to have American companies profit from the development.

5. As part of the deal have Putin and Syria demolish what's left of Gaza and send every hamashole to
Meet their virgins.

It's a win/win. Putin is a lot easier to deal with than Zelensky plus we need Russia to give us leverage when dealing with the real evil empire, CHINA.

Zalensky is a major idiot, who just ripped his britches. And dumber than a Democrat.

Zelensky has forgotten that he's deal with the only POTUS to step across the 38th parallel and walk into the enemy's territory to make negotiations and keep an enemy in line and was successful.

It doesn't matter what those clowns think.

WTF was Zelensky doing? He looked less like a Ukrainian leader and more like the next Democrat party candidate.

I don't care who is president, nobody comes into our house, the Oval Office, and disrespect us. No American president should bend over and kiss another leaders ass. Ukraine has received a lot of money from us and wants more. Act like it.
Ironically, it was certain people's voting choice in 2020 who came into office and set that very precedent...which Trump is now having to clean up the mess from.

"Elect a clown, expect a circus" indeed.

They get spoon fed by the media who will gladly reinforce their bad takes and paint Trump as the bad guy. Remember "good people on both sides"?

It is amazing that a country invades a sovereign country and we are on the side of the invaders. That is the heart of the matter and it is disturbing.

That WAS the situation. Now Trump is in office and he's offering Z a way out of this, but he keeps grifting, looking for a better deal instead of looking for peace. Z is a sellout to his own people and he's trying to use the media to negotiate a better settlement for himself, not his people.

As for Z not holding elections during wartime, it's true that's what his constitution says. But I'm also pretty sure his constitution doesn't give him the authority to jail his political opponents. He selectively follows the constitution when it suits him personally.

Trump should have never claimed pre-election that he would be able to strike a peace deal. Zelensky and the Ukrainian people have said from day one that they would never voluntarily give up any Ukrainian land. I'm pretty sure it would take years of them badly getting their teeth kicked in before they would agree to it. They'd likely fight an insurgent war if it comes down to it. This war isn't ending any time soon.

Zelensky not being able to keep his mouth shut will cost his country dearly. Trump might get a win by withdrawing aid but he won't get his peace deal. Ultimately, in the long game, we lose in the form of a stronger Russia.

And this is a-ok behavior according to his biggest fanboy here. He's a cross dressing comedian con man that actively campaigned on American soil for the party that would continue to support his money grab. He can get stuffed. Anyone that has the likes of Bill Kristol, Adam Kinzinger, Keith Olbermann, and Alexander Vindman up their ass, is probably not a good dude. It's absolutely hilarious to continue watching the fan club here just dig in for this guy.

The fact that so many people starred the post calling him a hero speaks volumes.

No one is a hero here. Not Putin, Not Zelensky, not the EU nations for marching this conflict down the road, not the US for funneling Billions to Ukraine.

This is a disaster that needs to stop. But Zelensky is a moron who's propagating more conflict.

This conflict could stop in seconds if Russia removed their forces from another country.

Can you acknowledge that the CIA overthrew the country in 2014?

And expanded nato against a long held agreement, we had with russia?

We had no agreement with Russia not to expand NATO.
You are right there is no legal agreement but overlook that the promise was made in order to induce the Soviets to negotiate over German reunification. As time went on, the Soviet Union collapsed and administrations changed, that promise was forgotten or ignored and repeatedly broken.

We didn't make this promise either. Even Gorbachev said no such agreement existed.
Your gaslighting is not accepted. Sorry pal.

So now Gorbachev is in on the conspiracy
Aren't you clever! Note I said "promise" not "agreement" in my original reply crediting you with correctly stating there is no agreement. We made the promise. Even James Baker said so. Gorby may have said there's no such agreement, though I note you don't cite to any sources, and he would have been right. The promise didn't end up in any legal agreement. Like I originally stated.
