Who was Helena hooking up with? Or does the timing fit that it could be her and Aegon's baby?

I might be answering my own question - it feels like forever ago because it's been two years for us - but hasn't only a matter of days passed since Aegon fell and broke himself? If so, then probably his baby as he was in King's Landing with a working dong not too long ago - correct?

To me there was zero indication of it being up for interpretation, but the Oysters Clams and Cockles guys seem to think it was.

I thought it was deader than dead.

To me it seems clear it has to be Aegon's, if only because Haelena seems pretty much asexual to me.

I think the fact that it didn't seem to show any decomposition while Meleys' body does maybe hints that Sunfyre could be alive. But who knows.

It's a shame dragon meat is toxic, because Rooks Rest could have been well fed for years.

Have they announced how many seasons they are expecting? We have 4 more episodes this season. I'm hoping 1 more 8-episode season personally.

Yep, next season will be the 4th and final season.

Good deal. That's what the story needs...definitely doesn't need to be dragged out.

This is all based on one book right? Fire & Blood ?

Correct. Which begs the question - which Novella will they do next? Dunk and Egg already going obviously with AKOTSK. Would absolutely love a 4 season series about the Mad King, Robert's Rebellion, Battle of the Trident, Jamie killing the Mad King, etc. Just that period of time right before GOT started.

Pretty sure Aegon's Conquest is already in production.

Ah nice. Forgive my lack of lore knowledge, but is the Aegon in Aegon's Conquest the original king that came over from across the sea, conquered the Andals and formed the 7 Kingdoms?

Way too many Aegon's......
Ol Jock 99
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yep. Forged the Iron Throne, brought the 7 kingdoms under one banner, etc etc.

I liked this episode a lot more than last week for some reason (maybe just me).

I've purposefully avoided spoilers about this war from GOT conversations in the shows, so I have no idea who wins. I will say they've done a good job of keeping us guessing. Everything seems to be going The Blacks way right now, but I can't help but think that Aemond has a trap that he's about the spring and some pretty stout losses are coming for the Queen's people.

But then again, I can't remember any mention of Hightowers in the future stories/shows so I'm thinking they get wiped off the map in some big way.

They were still a major power in the main GOT universe, but had been eclipsed by the Tyrells as the ruling house of the Reach.

I liked it more as well.

Aegon's conquest seems like a pretty boring series - bangs his 2 sisters, anytime he needs to win a battle he just goes thermo-nuclear with Balerion the Black Dread

Losing the people is ominous, as is Aemond missing. No worthy advisors. Big trouble brewing and seems to be ready to blow soon.

The writers botched the entire black Velaryon thing so badly, I couldn't recall who Sheepstealer's rider was in relation to the family for a sec.

I don't think anything was botched. We've known about Daemon's marriage Laena for the entire series, after she was rejected by Viserys as a proposed wife, and he married Alicent instead. Then Daemon marries Laena, and has the two daughters with her (Baela and Rhaena).

Laena, who rode Vhagar, had complications in her third pregnancy and commanded Vhagar to burn her to death, which Vhagar did, in front of Daemon.

And we've known during this season that Rhaena flew Sheepstealer and unwittingly attacked the Velaryon fleet. They've steadily built her story all along.

I get a kick out of a dragon being called a simple name/description like "Sheepstealer".

I guess my dragon name would be "Baconeater"

Without any spoilers, Id be interested to know how much of this is actually in the books and how much of it is the show writers filling in gaps.

honestly don't recall since I skimmed Fire and Blood and it is still a historical account of the blacks and greens.

I've seen a lot of comments about how there is lot of canon which doesnt line up, but I've never really cared being too by the book with series because the source material is dry mostly cliff notes.

All the Targaryens are played by great actors with the exception of Helaena. They want her to be autistic so bad it's cringeworthy. I'm sure the actress is good but the dialogue and presence is bad.

This season is better than 2 for sure. Maybe also 1, but 1 had Paddy Considine.

Yes, but I also enjoyed Aegon gutting that dude. Wish he had done it to Larys

There is a lot of moving pieces, but they are moving sooo slowly.

I actually felt this was the first slow episode of the season.

Hopefully Criston death will be that of Joffrey's death or burned by a dragon. Either way, dude needs to die.
My demon woke me up this morning and said bruh, I'm tired... So I handed him a Red Bull and said come on little buddy, we got bridges to burn and chaos to spread.

Fire & Blood is like reading an encyclopedia written by a guy who loved gossip. I read it maybe 3-4 years ago, and other than 2-3 really important points about this time period, I barely remember anything that is going to happen moving forward. It was kind of a let down to read after how rich the first 5 books.

Positives

I really enjoyed this episode. Cole looked like a desperate American officer leading his soldiers through Vietnam between the leeches and the rain and the mud and the little booby traps along the way. Really captured the helplessness and misery of war, something that was sorely missed in the original series in most of the battles.

Aegon was magnificent for a 2nd episode in a row; his eagerness to kill that guy was fantastic. I will have to look that actor up, but to go from playing the petulant D-bag for the large majority of the show to this vengeful creature is a really impressive transformation.

It took me a full episode to realize that was really Dan Fogler as Lord Manderly - forever Hutch from Fanboys. Fantastic casting. The show gets some much overdue comic relief.

Negatives

Is George RR Martin having an affair with the actress who plays the witch at Harrenhahl? She has raced right past the White Worm as the instant-eye roll character for me in every single scene she's in.

Allicent, despite being forever bangable, straight up sucks, having no problem leaving any and all grandkids behind to GTFO.

You are misreading Cole. He is no longer a love sick puppy. He now in full nihilistic focus of making his name known as part of legend.

The scene when Aemond took down the Starks (or whomever the northernerns were) at Harrenhall reminded me of the scene in MP Holy Grail when Lancelot danced through the wedding killing everyone.

Aegon finally bucked up.
Cole is suicidal.
Alicent still stinks.
I hate Harrenhal. (where storylines go to die)
Daeron's chess game improves.
Old Starks are hunting.
