Probably the worst or second worst episode of the season.

Dragon standoff was just Dragonporn.

Aegon ending scene was about the only redeeming scene.

I would agree. Probably second behind last episode.

Fairly disappointing for a penultimate episode.

They did start with a big battle but at this point they've been setting up for a whole 6 episodes so I'm guessing we'll get some fireworks in the finale.

Honestly thought Daemon was a goner so he's my current guess for who bites it next.

Are they really going to do the exact same near death and magic recovery for Aemond twice in one season?

I found the Sheepstealer scene to be pretty intense. I didn't think any of the characters would die, but I thought Syrax was a goner.

The scene with Aegon challenging that army and shouting all his titles while Sunfire creeps up was bad ass. He almost has the full Jaime treatment, but he's probably a little too far gone into madness. I have to ask, though, how did Sunfire go so long and survive?

His monologue was awesome and the way they cut that whole scene was great.

Yeah, so dragons can die, lay stagnant without breathing for months or a year (whatever it's been), and then just roll back into it?

What's the point of the queen and the master of whispers hooking up?!? Just to give us a lesbian scene? Or to get a weird triangle going with the two of them and Daemon?

Ulf and the Hightower guy acted like they've spoken before….am I forgetting a scene? Are they implying that Hightower just rode out and sat down with him while he was watching over the town?

It's the easiest way for the writers to show that Rhaenyra is choosing to trust the White Worm over Daemon. Because when you want to let someone know you trust them, you suck their face off.

The editing continues to be not good on this show.

But as BES and others have said, the end scene was phenomenal. Probably the closest we'll ever come to more than a 1-second flashback of what the Mad King looked like when he wanted to "burn them all" right before Jamie Lannister stabbed him in the back.

The dragon was never dead, just in a coma. Like on a cheesy soap opera.

Queen + Worm is lame. It's gratuitous.

Ulf & Ormund scene is just another example of lazy writing. Everything is just shoe horned in.

The show runners, writers and directors are fumbling this hard. They are taking excellent source material and pumping out mediocre slop. If this show didn't have dragons, it would be really bad.

The more I've watched this show, the more I realize that for the last 5 episodes half the characters have been doing the exact same thing they've been doing since episode 3.

If you've read Fire and Blood - I don't see how Season 4 isn't extremely rushed

I think this has been my biggest issue, not just with this season, but with this show overall.

Everything drags because characters do the same thing for multiple episodes. It feels like we've had the same Rhaenyra/Alicent scene in KL, Ormund/Daeron scene, Aemond/Alys scene, and Rhaena being a crack addict.

The show has been spinning its wheels for at least 3 episodes now.

The more I watch this show, the less I think I enjoy it. In addition to the writing not being very well done I don't think many of the actors are doing much to help. I can deal with not having any likeable characters if you at least make them compelling, and I can't think of a single character on the show that I want to spend time with other than Corlys, but he's been given very little to do since he was denied the request to give his name to his sons. Agree with what multiple OP's have said in that they're just dragging out nothing happening for long periods of time, it's like they're spinning their wheels to save money. It doesn't matter whether we're at King's Landing, Harenhall, Tumbleton, The Vale, etc, nothing feels to be truly consequential. Perhaps worst of all is that it feels like most of the characters are idiots, regardless of how smart or cunning they think they are. This show feels like the antithesis of the first seasons of Game of Thrones.

It's the same boring junk week after week.

The Harrenhall stuff has been annoying and boring for virtually the entire series.

Every time Alicent or the dreamer Targ dreamer daughter are on the screen it's an instant tune out.

We get it…Rhaenyra is losing Kings Landing. Maybe if they show it to us 10 more times we'll really understand that she's losing Kings Landing.

I'm still not sure what the mess is about in the Vale. I know that's where Sheepstealer and Daemon's daughter have been hiding out but he goes up there to gripe at the Vale queen this week and wants one day to find out where Sheepstealer is, then we jump to a scene where he not only finds them but so does Rhaenyra and every other dragon within 1,000 miles. That's some next level tracking by all of them.

The Hightower and Daeron stuff is super disjointed and has dragged on and on and on and on.

The Aegon stuff is pretty solid.

Any time the Stark army is on screen it's entertaining.

And Daemon is still the best character on the show but any time he's with Rhaenyra it becomes whiny television.

I guess that's possible. We also saw the guys very clearly sending out ravens/pigeons with messages on them earlier in the season. They were the same guys that were hunting gold cloaks and the guy that sent out the bird is the one Daemon killed when he was being followed. I just assumed that was how he was getting his inside info. Especially since Rhaenyra had Ulf posted up at different spots looking for Aemond and then again down at Tumbleton.

After Alicent fled after poisioning Aemond, and she went through a gate and closed it behind her, I thought she was going to stumble upon Vhagar somehow enchanted or in some weird coma state from the witch's magic. But perhaps no one has seen him in weeks because they are saving money on VFX by just mentioning "Oh yeah, I think I saw Vhagar at the club last weekend. Vhagar? I think he was at Chili's Tuesday night with another dragon."

I forgot about the other son of Corlys hitting on Daemon's daughter, whose name I can never remember. One of those things y'all are talking about being so disjointed in the show. Like, there is some foundation in the contrast between Alan and Adam. Alan initially doesn't want to have a role with Corlys's fleet, Adam jumps right at the chance to claim a dragon. Alan hesitates to get all kissy face with that the Targ chick, Adam shoots his shot right away.


Also, I would be letting myself down if I forgot to mention how much I despise Alicent. Cersei would never poison her own child. (yes, I'm going to keep making this comparison until that b-tch is dead).

I also really liked the emotional "man's best friend" moment where Caraxes abandons the fight with Sheepstealer to make sure Daemon is OK. The design of Caraxes is my favorite thing about the show.

Rewatched the end scene this morning and I am more convinced than ever that they should make a show about Robert's Rebellion from Aerys's POV as a Howard Hughes-esque biopic.

Aerys was only 39 when he died, so you could literally have any top-tier actor play the part for 3 years or so - him on the rise in his early 20s as charming and popular and generous, overcoming the tragedy at Summerhall and becoming friends with Tywin, but obsessed with Tywin's soon-to-be wife.

In the second season he's losing his charms because he is king and he and Tywin's friendship starts to fracture, the Defiance at Duskendale happens and he starts going nuts as a captive until Barristan Selmy rescues him.

In the third season, he's total crazy town, and you've got a handsome young dude playing Rhaegar; I'd amp up him being jealous of Rhaegar, and the whole thing unravels with the Starks and the Baratheons and young Jamie and ultimately betrayed by his former best friend.

FInd a younger actor who is equally charming and capable of going total crazy town. I'd watch it in a second.
