They need to get some sort of media out soon for this movie. It comes out in 7 months and all we've got is one crappy picture that got memed in 10 seconds. Nobody I know outside of this message board among my group of friends who typically would be down to go see a movie like this even know it's coming out.

After Superman's painful last few appearances - BvS, Justice League, Black Adam cameo, it's weird they aren't giving people something to get excited about.

We've entered the two-week window where the first trailer will drop any day now. It's ready to go, and initial rumors had it debuting today at CCXP Brazil. Those plans seem to have been scrapped, though (if they ever existed in the first place), and reading the tea leaves now, my guess is it doesn't hit next week but rather the week at some point prior to the 20th. Either way we're close, and WB/DC obviously have a ton riding on the movie. They've said 2025 will be "the year of Superman" marketing-wise, so there's been no need to advertise until production wrapped and the dust has settled on some of their other projects. Now, with Creature Commandos also releasing this past Thursday, they're finally/officially going all-in on the new DCU, and the ramp up has begun.

So... press event on the WB lot for the trailer premiere on Monday, followed by an online release at some point after. Could be the same day, could be later in the week, but my guess would be at least before Friday, seeing as it's apparently debuting in theaters with Mufasa Thursday evening.

Warner Bros going all out to finally kick off the Superman marketing campaign tomorrow, for press. Still no clear indication when it'll drop online, but more and more rumors are saying Tuesday, which would make the most sense to me...

I'm really hoping that the "punk rock" part is everyone around Superman, and not the dude himself. He should be the ultimate square.

That would be my guess, based on everything Gunn has said so far.

So now DanielRPK is saying an online debut Thursday, and he's usually pretty accurate when it comes to this stuff. If so, I'm surprised they're going to make fans wait three days after all the descriptions drop tomorrow, but considering it'll be debuting in theaters as well on Thursday, I guess that makes sense...

I don't know about "most important comic book trailer of all time," but so much really is riding on this trailer, and obviously the movie itself. A bad first impression would be tough to bounce back from, on both fronts, especially considering how many DCU projects after Superman have already been greenlit/are about to go into production...

Made even more complicated by the fact that the two previous iterations of the character had two of the all-time great superhero teaser trailers. Granted, it helps that Gunn is likely going for a different tone, but still. A lot to live up to either way...

Man, I had forgotten just how awesome the trailer for Superman Returns was. It was probably the use of John Williams' music from Superman: the Movie that did it for me(that is a top 5 score for me). MoS sure promised more than was ultimately delivered (referring to the entirety of the DCU, not MoS itself), but the use of Howard Shore's Lord of the Rings music didn't work for me.

I went back and looked at the teaser for Superman: the Movie - compared to these two, woof.

Feels like the first Batman trailer was probably the most important. We'd never be where we were with superhero movies if one with 3 huge stars had flopped in the late 80s. prior to that, 80s superhero films had been progressively worse Supermans, Howard the Duck, Supergirl, and cult classics like the Toxic Avenger and Swamp Thing.

Weird this trailer has no music, but other than comic book fans, everyone knew Adam West as Batman, and Cesar Romero - who refused to shave his moustache as Joker. Showing them both as really bad ass and that new fangled Batmobile really put audiences in the mood for comic books.

If I remember the story correctly, the anti-Keaton rhetoric after he was cast had reached such a fever pitch that WB rushed that teaser trailer out in order to quell the hate, hence no music. It of course worked, though, and the rest is history.

I wasn't anti-Keaton but I certainly was surprised that he was the choice.

Turns out, he's a pretty damn good actor.

I've never been huge on Superman, but I'm already 100% in on this new one, regardless of how the trailer turns out.

In the spring of 89, I was in my last year at A&M. I was driving around town one day in May (probably still spitting nails mad over the ending of the baseball season) listening to the local radio when I heard this ridiculous song about the upcoming Batman movie. No idea what the song was called or who performed it, but it was a dig at Keaton's casting. I recall lyrics like "We want our Adam West". Curiously, I only heard it that one time, and after 23-June, it was clear that the casting was damn near perfection.

Regarding that casting, I was dubious when it was announced maybe sometime in 1988. Mr. Mom is Batman? SERIOUSLY!!!! Then I saw that trailer that TPE posted sometime around Christmas 88 and when he grabs that thief and answers the question, "What are you?" with "I'M BATMAN" I was sold.

Despite ranking Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade as a top-3 overall film, I actually looked forward to Batman much more that spring. With Spielberg, I knew what I was going to get and I knew I was going to love that movie, particularly with the addition of Sean Connery. But Batman was a movie that I'd read about being in production for years (used to read the old Starlog magazine where there were blurbs about the movie being in production as early as maybe 1984). On opening day, it was the only movie showing at the Post Oak Mall theater on all three screens, and it was sold out for days on end. That movie blew people away that summer. I probably saw it 5 times before the end of June.

John Williams' score and the Marlon Brando voice-over make that trailer awesome for someone like me who saw the original Superman: The Movie in the front row of the old Simon Theater in Brenham back in 1978 as a 9 year-old. Superman was my favorite comic book hero, as well.

I liked both Beetlejuice movies, Mars Attacks, and Sleepy Hollow. I was liking Batman Returns up until the moment penguins waddled onto the street with rockets strapped to their backs.

I was 11 when we saw it at the old Meyerland Theater in SW Houston (even though I grew up in Lake Jackson). At this point I had not really associated the name John Williams with anything even though I had the 2-LP record album for Star Wars, which my dad had bought for me the year before. I remember saying something upon leaving the theater that the music sounded so much like Star Wars. And it was the second soundtrack album I ever purchased on my own a couple of years later or so, after I had bought The Empire Strikes Back.

Years before when I spent a summer with my grandmother in Lake Jackson (before we moved there from Houston), there was a 7-11 next door to their house that she would take me to each week for a treat, typically some candy and a Slurpee. That summer there was a deal where you could get a plastic cup featuring a superhero. That Superman cup was my most prized possession (I also had Batman, Wonder Woman, and a few others that have been lost in my memory). Sadly, none of those cups survived our moves.

It was quite entertaining.

Old Michael Keaton was the best thing about The Flash movie, and he basically turned in a similar performance in reprising the juice.

Guys.

They're using the Williams score.

But updated.

And it sounds incredible.

While the poster looks incredible.

This isn't silly or goofy or Gunny at all.

It's hopeful.

It's optimistic.

And I cannot ****ing wait.

It's almost like they remixed the Williams score in the vibe of the Zimmer score.

It's the perfect mesh.

And is almost assuredly a snippet of John Murphy's new score.

I love it so, so much.

This whole thing is giving me slight Star Trek '09 vibes, which is one of my favorite blockbusters of the century so far...

Yeah, it was officially dropped a few months ago. Gunn made an announcement, basically saying that it just felt right. And now we can start to see why, with the score and all.

To that end, it would be super (no pun intended) helpful if staff could change the thread title to something like...

*** SUPERMAN *** (James Gunn / DCU)

This actually sounds like the John Williams score filtered through the sound of Zimmer's MoS score.

There's still a lot I'm not too sure about this movie, and cautiously optimistic overall, but this does sound pretty dope.

Exactly what I was saying a couple posts later. It's almost as if Gunn told Murphy to just meld the two scores. Which is weirdly perfect, seeing as neither could ever be topped.
