They are actually pretty dialed in at Lights Camera Barstool... and they have Hoult on the shortlist for Superman... but as the leading choice for Lex... which I think he would be much better suited for and an absolutely perfect fit.
. . .
You and Gunn both.

For chili dogs, it's James Coney Island or GTFO

I'll buy that

Also, reminds me of a story by one of my favorite authors, Larry Niven, on Superman's ability to reproduce with Lois Lane. The title is "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex"

I don't get the recent trend to make Superman either evil or emo. It's okay to have a superhero who's a happy warrior. My Adventures with Superman is such a pleasure precisely because it starts with the assumption that Clark Kent is a good person and the world is worth living in and saving.

They need to make Red Son into a live-action movie. The animated version was OK, but the graphic novel is A+++

My sincere hope is that Superman isn't a massive arrogant dumbass in this version of his story. Almost all of his powers are ranged (laser eyes, frozen breath, super long range hearing, X-ray vision) but yet the idiot always comes in close enough for some loser human to reveal a case/necklace/spear with kryptonite on it rendering our invulnerable hero defeated by the most predictable of methods.

Seriously Superman should never get within 500 yards of any villain without first scoping the situation with super hearing and vision.

Especially once batman is in the universe, Superman needs to take lessons from him on stealth and detective work to reduce his risk of falling into traps.

My ideal Superman plot would force Superman to fight in a way that his powers are no good against the bad guys. Whether that means multiple villains coordinating attacks across the world (he can't be on two places at once so he has to decide who to save) or by having the villains actually conceal their plot from Superman and he has to figure it out. (His understanding of humanity leads to him saving the day) This also brings in his reporter skills as a key plot point rather than just a cover. I want a smart plot that makes some sense on why non gods could possibly challenge a god like Superman.

Oddly, villains in Superman stories are usually super enthusiastic to tell the living God superhero exactly what they are up to. I want to see Superman put in a situation where his humanity ends up being the power that saves the day not just his powers.

Sounds good.

I still want classic Superman villains not named Luthor or Zod. Might have gotten Darkseid if the Snyderverse had been able to ply out fully, so I still want a movie (or trilogy) with Darkseid. Or give me Brainiac.

I could be wrong, but I don't think it's based on any particular run or iteration. Gunn has basically just said that they're going for a more optimistic/fun tone overall. More Donner than Snyder, except with probably a bit more humor. It sounds like Lois has a more prominent role than ever as well.

There was a good bit of humor in Donner's Superman.

The telephone booth, revolving door and pimp, to Lois Lane's "You've got me? Who's got you?"

Robber bangs Superman on head, Superman's response - "bad vibrations?"

A lot of the dialogue between Lex Luthor and Otis has some humor thrown in. Why is the number 200 so descriptive of both you and me? Your weight and my IQ.

Article I read said sort of the same thing - it takes pieces from multiple Superman stories, including All-Star. I really hope they take some inspiration from A Superman for All Seasons, which I think is just great.
