It's crazy, btw, that Superman wrapped filming on the exact same day that The Fantastic Four BEGINS filming… and yet The Fantastic Four is coming out only two weeks after Superman.

The very first image released from set was the suit's "S" crest partially covered in snow, so yeah, one would assume. That said, if so, it's very interesting that Luthor is there as well…

Feels like they only have enough film for 20 minutes.

I think a big part of it feeling so short was that it was all interiors/sound stages for months, until the public finally started seeing exteriors being shot six weeks or so ago…

Truly unbelievable. After a series of great suits, we have regressed.

Maybe it will look better in camera. Or maybe this is an "early" suit?

Once you see the aesthetic of the rest of the movie, the suit starts to make more sense. If it were our world, or even the world of Man of Steel, it would definitely feel out of place. And don't get me wrong, I don't love the suit either, but in context of the overall look Gunn seems to be going for, it gels, and I think/hope, ultimately, will work pretty well.

The new Natalie Portman/Apple TV+ miniseries Lady in the Lake (which I personally haven't seen yet).

Ahh. Not going to see that one is reckon. Don't have Apple TV and don't anticipate getting another subscription. Looks like it could be good though.

"... and this specific suit is for this specific timeline..." re: the Hawkgirl suit we saw in those set pics. Coupled with the '70s-leaning wardrobes worn by the extras in those scenes, there's definitely something wonky going on (though the modern-day cars add an extra wrinkle). If anything, it gives me hope that there's a different Superman suit we'll also eventually see...

Maybe Superman goes through some sort of wonky wormhole and ends up in the present, a la Cap being frozen for 70 years

Dude can literally turn back time by flying real fast around the planet a few times. Maybe he will go the opposite direction and get to the future.

If he can turn back time, couldn't he theoretically go back and save Krypton?

Maybe it's limited to local celestial bodies. He also doesn't know where Krypton is.

I guess it depends on what's canon. In Superman Returns he goes to the ruins of the planet.

Hmm, I forgot about that. Granted, I was mostly making fun of the scene in Superman 2 where he does that. Such a terrible movie.

Quote:

James Gunn on if he will overwork or underpay VFX workers:

"If you do some research you'll see my films have always taken a different approach and I've always given my VFX artist-collaborators time to do their jobs properly, and the respect they deserve. And the quality of the VFX in those films is uniformly great because of it (and because my friends at Weta and Framestore and ILM and more are amazingly talented).

This is why we wrapped on Superman a year before release and why they've been hard at work on many shots for months before that. This is why we start heartily editing during the shoot. It's why I prepare so vigorously and why we only shoot finished screenplays. And Supergirl, which I'm not directing, is being handled the same way. I can't praise the VFX artists that help us create magic enough."

Did someone ask him that question specifically? What a ridiculous way to frame a question. Surely no agenda there.

It's been a fairly big topic on Twitter about these VFX intensive films that they underpay they artists (i have little knowledge of whether this is overblown or not). So the question isn't quite so out of the blue as it might seem.

You don't find it odd someone would ask the specific question "Will you overwork or underpay people working on your movie?" and how that appears? It starts with a presumption of guilt. You're such a condescending ass it is hilarious to watch.

LOL yeah, he should have answered, "Definitely underpay them. They are trash. I am a god."

I posted something I found to be a positive, encouraging fact about Gunn's process, and what it means for the quality of this movie, specifically. Literally all I was doing was trying to inject more good vibes into the thread.

Then, in typical TexAgs fashion, the very first response of course found a way to somehow turn that positive into a negative, in the most ill-informed way possible. All I said was "What are you talking about?" in response, and you shot back by calling me "a condescending ass."

Seriously?

And somehow I'm the bad guy here?

I swear, a handful of you on this board are never not the most negative, contrarian weirdos I've ever come come across, and when challenged even in the slightest, you resort to pure, junior high petulance time and again. It's so incredibly baffling to watch, and endlessly frustrating to interact with on a daily basis.

For the record, Gunn is often asked questions on social media. And because he's one of the few directors who actually engages with fans on that front, fans often ask thoughtful questions in return. There's no conspiracy here…
