One of Helly's questions when she woke up on the conference room table was a question about Delaware or something. I mean, I guess they could ask that question in Canada. But Canada is the only other country that makes sense for this to be set in besides the US. If strictly because of the accents.
obviously in the show it could be anywhere, but the woods/outdoors/waterfall scenes were shot in Minnewaska State Park in NY, just outside of New Paltz. I knew it as soon as i saw the frozen lake and cliffs. The waterfall confirmed it. Looked it up and i was right.AJ02 said:AggieOO said:BenTheGoodAg said:
Based on the company founding year (1865) and Irving's lifespan (Quarter 870-882), it's the year 2085...
Yet all the cars look like they are from 1985.
Maybe the US ends up like Cuba, where their only option is to keep repairing & refurbishing old cars.
But honestly, I'm guessing it's intentional by the writers so each viewer can sort of fill in the blanks with their own location & time period. Like, I thought the setting was Pennsylvania. My husband thought Minnesota. Someone else we know that watches it thought Oregon. And I think the writers did that on purpose, much like the movie Se7en. I'd assume they're doing the same with the timeline.

There are either a lot of really, REALLY smart people on this thread or a lot of people that have nothing but free time to dive in and an analyze every last detail of this show - no matter how seemingly trivial. Whichever it might be, I'm very appreciative!!
I had no idea that the largest waterfall on the planet was located in NY. I guess you learn something new every day.AggieOO said:obviously in the show it could be anywhere, but the woods/outdoors/waterfall scenes were shot in Minnewaska State Park in NY, just outside of New Paltz. I just rewatched that scene and in the first layer of the trunk is a Navy enlisted uniform and an obviously old photo of a man in an enlisted uniform. On the back of the photo is the handwritten word Dad.
I presume then that it is Irv's father, not Irv, who was in the Navy.

How did Milchick know they banged? Aside from the "they see everything" theory

Any speculation on the guy whistling "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" and delivering dental equipment? I thought that was a powerful scene. I think the song choice is interesting and wonder if it will come into play later.
I looked up the actor, Robby Benson, and he's credited with 6 episodes this season

Was going to say the same. For someone who so closely "rewatched and noticed things", that's a rather large oversight.
Why do people have to copy reddit theories and bring them here as if they were their own?

Speaking of the watch. I was talking with a friend that follows all the reddit subs and they said there was an ep in season 1 where his watch skipped a day from when he went down and came up. Later in the episode he was confused about what day he was supposed to go over to his sister's or something "That's today?" or something like that. I find it a bit odd that it kind of lowkey just got passed over by the show w/o ever making anything of it.MW03 said:
Also, I'm a watch nerd and noticed back in S1 that Mark has a Vostok soviet airborne watch, which is odd. They still make them for cheap so I didn't clock it as important, but this extra Russian stuff makes it more interesting.
