One of Helly's questions when she woke up on the conference room table was a question about Delaware or something. I mean, I guess they could ask that question in Canada. But Canada is the only other country that makes sense for this to be set in besides the US. If strictly because of the accents.

There were a ton of questions akin to this that came out of S2E4. Presumably, they test the severed to make sure they only take personal memories. Helly knows Delaware is a state that begins with the letter D, but not the color of her mothers eyes. I suppose it's kind of like dissociative amnesia where a person forgets autobiographical facts, but not others.

They discuss other things, too. Irving speculates that they are taking the curse words out of movies, suggesting they all know what movies are. Dylan thinks his outtie is a body builder because of his strong deltoids, suggesting he knows about weight lifting, the human body, and the sport of body building. When the innies are in the outside world in the season one finale, they aren't freaked out by things. Hell, Irving knows how to drive a car.

So why don't they know about the world's tallest waterfall? That just doesn't make any kind of sense.

Can't decide...

There are either a lot of really, REALLY smart people on this thread or a lot of people that have nothing but free time to dive in and an analyze every last detail of this show - no matter how seemingly trivial. Whichever it might be, I'm very appreciative!!

Bunch of other little things I noted on rewatching everything:

S2E1: sure looks like Graner in the hallway background opening scene behind mark

S1: Ricken mentions to innie mark that he, mark, Devon, and Gemma went on "the crest hike" and saw funny bees. I would guess it's the same crest innie Mark woke up on top of

S1: Devon mentions that Rebek is making chewing noises and she was not chewing (goat??). Rebel says she has sores on the back of her head. She says she is gonna have to change her name again due to Rickens book

S1: video of Helena saying she has a few hundred thousand brothers and sisters around the world?

S1 & 2: It's revealed Irv was military when he opened his bunk at home. Always thought his mannerisms and mind were militant - such as the way he pops up to attention when someone walks in the room, and his initial rule following and handbook memorization. Outie Irv also seemed to have been keeping himself up at night (coffee and music) repeatedly painting that exit door to force his innie to fall asleep and dream about it. In that light, the call he makes a call to -someone- after he is fired is an interesting string.

S1: Corbel is very excited about the potential for reintegration and perhaps love transcending the severance boundary. Graner says to her that they can celebrate when they find out Petey was reintegrated? She looks heartbroken when innie mark and Ms Casey can't remember one another. I also noticed that she took Gemma's candle from Marks basement, gave it to Ms Casey, and she lights it in their 1 on 1 session when he molds the tree where Gemma 'died'.

And some interesting quotes I noted:
Petey: "What if you're murdering people 8 hours a day and you don't even know it"

Helly: "well boss, I guess I should tell you to go to hell, but you're already here". Tons of references to hell in show

Burt shares a theory that MDR have pouches that hatch larvae that consume and replace them

Dylan: "Maybe love transcends severance".

I think this would be a bit lame, but it's possible there is an alternate history angle to this where the Cold War did not end the way it did for us. Would explain some things like the timeline from company founding + elapsed quarters but still having tech that hasn't advanced very far + Russian tie ins + Irv trying to infiltrate

Based on the company founding year (1865) and Irving's lifespan (Quarter 870-882), it's the year 2085...

Yet all the cars look like they are from 1985.

Maybe the US ends up like Cuba, where their only option is to keep repairing & refurbishing old cars.

But honestly, I'm guessing it's intentional by the writers so each viewer can sort of fill in the blanks with their own location & time period. Like, I thought the setting was Pennsylvania. My husband thought Minnesota. Someone else we know that watches it thought Oregon. And I think the writers did that on purpose, much like the movie Se7en. I'd assume they're doing the same with the timeline.
obviously in the show it could be anywhere, but the woods/outdoors/waterfall scenes were shot in Minnewaska State Park in NY, just outside of New Paltz. I knew it as soon as i saw the frozen lake and cliffs. The waterfall confirmed it. Looked it up and i was right.

I had no idea that the largest waterfall on the planet was located in NY. I guess you learn something new every day.

So the elevator opens, Helly sees Ms Huang and says, "Who the hell are you?"

Maybe it should be obvious to me, but how far back was Helly really Helena?

We don't see Helly from the time she tried to expose everything at the gala during the Overtime Contingency at the end of Season 1 until Irving drowns Helena in Season 2 during the ORTBO

Any speculation on the guy whistling "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" and delivering dental equipment? I thought that was a powerful scene. I think the song choice is interesting and wonder if it will come into play later.

I looked up the actor, Robby Benson, and he's credited with 6 episodes this season

S1 & 2: It's revealed Irv was military when he opened his bunk at home.

I just rewatched that scene and in the first layer of the trunk is a Navy enlisted uniform and an obviously old photo of a man in an enlisted uniform. On the back of the photo is the handwritten word Dad.

I presume then that it is Irv's father, not Irv, who was in the Navy.

Was going to say the same. For someone who so closely "rewatched and noticed things", that's a rather large oversight.

Why do people have to copy reddit theories and bring them here as if they were their own?

Whoever he is, he'd have to be unsevered, right? Bc a severed person likely wouldn't know the song. Unless they allow severed employees to listen to actual music? I thought when Milchick held the dance party it was all music, no lyrics.

Am I crazy, but is the first word on the note Irv left Dylan behind Hang In There, "dad". Will need to go back and check that.

Also, I'm a watch nerd and noticed back in S1 that Mark has a Vostok soviet airborne watch, which is odd. They still make them for cheap so I didn't clock it as important, but this extra Russian stuff makes it more interesting.

Edit: Just read your edit about the watch.
Speaking of the watch. I was talking with a friend that follows all the reddit subs and they said there was an ep in season 1 where his watch skipped a day from when he went down and came up. Later in the episode he was confused about what day he was supposed to go over to his sister's or something "That's today?" or something like that. I find it a bit odd that it kind of lowkey just got passed over by the show w/o ever making anything of it.
