It's not like Hopper has ever had to deal with intense, crazy situations before. No, not at all...

Did anyone else get a Uma Thurman vibe from her?

Finally got around to finishing this the other night. The Neverending Story bit is probably my favorite moment of 2019 television.

And I want Dacre Montgomery as Adam Warlock in the MCU.

Glad you liked it because it totally got Hopper killed.

Could be amazing if they tied next season into Chernobyl, though I wonder if they'd be hesitant to touch it after the HBO series.

Couple other thoughts since I just finished

-Boys did not have perms or feathers in elementary school or middle school, no matter what Annie thinks she remembers. It was all natural buttcuts and bowl cuts until high school, like the kids in the show. And the clothes look right for kids. Steve and Billy are decently accurate for high school "cool."

-It can't be Hopper in the Russian cell, because Suzie and Dusty got him killed.

-I wonder if it could be Eleven's "sister" or another kid from the rainbow room locked up in Russia, or if we'll see more of them. Still don't know how many labrat kids there were.

The fashion critiques crack me up. Yes, the boys and people of Hawkins, Indiana are a little behind the cutting edge fashion of the 1980s. For people that live or near big cities, fashion back then was pretty current. But in small towns in the middle of nowhere people could be way behind the current trends. So it makes sense for the boys to have late 70's, early 80's clothes and haircuts. You can tell the difference when Eleven goes to NYC, and then you can see more current and cutting edge trends.

Honestly, this post makes me feel nerdier than anything I've ever posted on this site, and that's saying quite a bit

If you were a real nerd, you'd know she went to Chicago, not NYC.

Are y'all joking when you say Suzie and Dustin got Hopper killed??

That has got to be the slowest count to three if you are trying to stop a monster from killing your children I have ever seen. No urgency

Suzie wasted about three minutes of precious time to sing that damn song. Absolutely her fault.

The Nothing does sound like a villain from the Upside Down
You just made me realize there is another allusion to Neverending Story before Dustin and Suzie start singing.

When El is in Billy's mind in the beach scene, his memories are being consumed by the Mind Flayer. At the time, I thought it was just a visual representation of Billy's lost of humanity/becoming the Flayer.

Now I think it is an allusion to The Nothing, devouring anything and everything it comes near.

There were a few of the "cool" boys in my elementary school in the late 80s that got perms. They were mocked big time and did not keep them for very long.

I just finished the show last night. Really enjoyed it. I watched all 3 seasons in two weeks.

I would totally watch that.

David Harbour said he always imagined Hopper had a previous career in NYC in which he was Frank Serpico's partner. They worked the gritty streets on NYC and while Serpico gained fame, Hopper faded away until the corruption and life became too much. So he picked Hawkins Indiana as a way to leave that life behind him. If they did a spin off he would like to explore Hopper as an NYC cop.

That's awesome. Although I seem to be the only person who was thinking Miami Vice when Hopper got his cool new shirt:

Also, if they do bring Hopper back next season, I hope they keep him fully clothed. Saw way more of him than I need to see in 3.
