id kinda like to hear more about this. seems like the least painful way to get rejected

At the time, it was just a "not interested" kind of response. But years later my wife and I ran into her at a wedding - with her girlfriend.

Time heals all wounds, but knowing the truth to "it's not you, it's me" helped expedite the process a bit!

As a kid, I loved this and was also haunted by it.

I know this is pretty obvious, but it occurred to me this show is a major homage to 80s movies like Goonies or Monster Squad or Lost Boys.

I was born in 1990. Saw this movie in the 90s and still HATE this movie to the day. Terrible.

Yea. I loved it as a kid. My 7 year old died laughing (in a bad way) when the rock biter showed up.

Not everyone had Lucasfilm effects in the 80s. In my experience, if people can't get over bad effects they won't care how good a movie is.

Not a strong hypothesis, I know

What other movies suffer from this?

Return to Oz (not sure how many liked this to begin)
Dark Crystal
Labyrinth
Princess Bride, maybe? There are less monster type effects in this one

I would say The Princess Bride holds up very well. Saw it back in 2015 in a re-showing at a theater. Like 80% of the people in the audience had never seen it when they asked before the screening. Everyone seemed to love it.

I was born in 79 but didn't see Bloodsport until maybe 5 years ago. I thought it was awful. Funny thing is, I love Kickboxer, Lionheart, Hard Target, and Time Cop, but I saw all those as a kid.

People now prefer a movie to look good but have **** storytelling.

The Dark Crystal should not be on this list. Oz & Henson at their absolute peak.

I'm convinced David Bowie had to see Labyrinth in the theater to prove to himself the entire filming process hadn't been some sort of drug-induced hallucination.

Funny story about The Princess Bride-

My siblings orthodontist had a theater on the side of his office, so I would go watch whatever movie was playing when the we're getting their braces worked on. One time I walked in and it was a playing a movie I had never seen.

I got there kinda late, so I missed the fact that it was a grandfather reading a story to his grandson. So, to me, it was this awesome action story about a pirate. Then, my mom came to get me to leave right after the Sicilian drank the poisoned wine.

I never saw the rest of the movie for about 15 years. I would get so confused when people would talk about how funny it was. It seemed so serious to me. To this day I don't like the rest of the movie.

So I watched it again with my wife (at first she wasn't interested), and there is no way I'm hell Hopper got out of there in time. It was like 2 seconds from when we saw him standing there with nobody else in sight to her turning the keys. If they bring him back in some way that is not supernatural (like how 11 came back in season 2), then it will be lame.

Maybe I missed it, but why did the people infected act so differently this time? Like with the rats, the exploding, the gathering, etc.

How did they act before, I don't remember? Do you just mean Will? Billy was like Will in season 2, right? I guess he was infected in a different manner than Billy...
Will was missing most if not all of the time he was infected if I remember correctly. Will said the flayer only uses them when he needs them which was true with Billy, but I thought it was different how they could infect others in the normal day-to-day lives.

In one of the last episodes, the kids were like "why is it so different this time?" and I don't remember them every saying why. I'm guessing the rats started it with Mrs. Driscoll and Billy? It just doesn't make sense to me

I think the difference in behavior was that it was building the monster. That's why everyone it was controlling was eating and drinking caustic chemicals. It was breaking down their bodies so they could all turn to goop and form the monster. The gate wasn't open enough for it to send anything through, and it wouldn't stay open even if it could, so it was using whatever and whoever it could to make something on this side.

Great season thought it somehow managed to top season 2s ending. But if a tear jerker at the end, but I am curious if Hop is still alive. There was no ash pile where his body should have been like they showed the bodies in episode one and then the American comment in in the credit scene. Will be interesting to see how this goes forth.

Is anyone else secretly hoping this series escalates into a long version of the love death robots short in Russia with the subterranean monsters lol.

Lucas' sister was the worst.

Season 3 was better than 2 for sure.

I was never a DD dork but the scene where the boys gave up on Will was very good. I don't think anyone can put their finger on the exact moment you transition from child to adolescent but it sure made me go back and think about my own life and when i gave up on toys and started thinking more about girls. It's kinda gut wrenching when you think about moving from a more or less innocent state into the cruel realities of the world and adulthood.

Finally finished the season. Enjoyed it more than the 2nd.

Did they ever explain why the Russians wanted to open the portal? Did they not know the bad things that happened from it? Were they just as ignorant as the US government last season and just thought they might find some cool stuff to weaponize?

Just finished last night. I'm grateful for little children that denied my wife and I the chance to binge it. We were lucky to get one episode in a night after they went to bed. I got to enjoy it more this way.

I love everything about this show. All three seasons are great.

Because his adopted daughter is growing up and wants to spend less time with him, which is bringing back memories of losing his real daughter to cancer.
