First things first. I refuse to ever go to another theater without recliners. I'm only 30 and my body is so stiff from the lack of space.
Be prepared to have the tone set super early. Robert Pattinson is my favorite Batman. Excuse me while I go buy a few Lego sets and some Funko pops. Dano is super terrifying and unhinged. Turturo as Falcone was great. Farrell as Penguin, and I LOVED Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman. Definitive and true to the character. The Batmobile is bad ass. I'm really glad they leaned a bit into the corniness of some of Riddlers' riddles. The cinematography is incredible, the score is perfect, I really cannot overstate how much I loved this movie. It really isn't much of an action movie, and isn't quite as much of a thriller as I thought it would be. Almost all of what we saw in trailers were in the first 70 minutes in the movie.
I'm biased because I love Batman, but this is my favorite comic book movie ever. No cameos, no restraints of a shared universe. Although I do hope they do a full on Gotham/Batman universe in theaters and HBO Max.
I used the bathroom twice during Infinity War and Endgame, but never once got our of my seat for this, and neither did anyone in the entire theater (I sat by the exit). I didn't want the movie to end at all.
I really can't help but think how absolutely perfect that October 1st release date would have been.
I did hear a mix of like and love when leaving the theater, for what it's worth. It did get a standing ovation at the end, and there were quite a few cheers.

Yes, standing ovation. I didn't see any post credits, but I'll look for them when I go see it again. They do enough at the end to not really need post credits.

I will say there's two or three scenes that will get the F16 crowd riled up, but it's a quick mention each time and nobody acknowledges it.

Have experienced maybe three standing ovations in a movie theater before. You can definitely tell the difference.

Also this was a fan event, so mainly people who are psyched about the movie. I was by myself so I listened to everyone nerding out about Batman and taking pics with cosplayers. Almost half the crowd was wearing a shirt from The Batman (and some others with random Batman shirts).
This movie was also not family friendly. Tons of GD, ****, and f bombs. They really maxed out language for PG-13. A couple of scenes would make me uncomfortable watching it with a middle schooler or early high schooler. Good thing my daughter is only (almost) three so I could leave her home.

Robert Pattinson nails it, Colin Farrell is unrecognizable and Matt Reeves has crafted one of the finest detective stories ever put on screen.
Despite it's hefty 3-hour run time, this is yet another thunderous winner for DC.

Endgame got a standing ovation at my theater opening night
Didn't think I was going to go this weekend, due to other obligations, but as it turns out, the wife is working all day Saturday, so I'm free. And lo and behold, the theater was not sold out (which was actually a bit surprising). Going Saturday morning, first showing.
As for standing ovations, I've seen at least one - as the credits rolled in the original Red Dawn back in 1984.

An 11th hour invitation to a slumber party has remarkably freed my wife and I of kids Friday night and after she had a blast at No Way Home last year, she's all in on going to see The Batman. After getting her to go see 4 super hero movies in the first 13 years we knew each other, this is the second in 4 months. Judgement Day is nigh.
The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker were considered hits, and ZSJL was on of the top streaming movies last year (movies that debuted on streaming, not theater movies moved to streaming). Recency bias says that DC has been doing well for the last 7 months.

Think "hits" in this context means well received both critically and with the target audience.
Came out at a bad time because of COVID and it was on HBO Max from day one. It reviewed well with critics, even with the not so great name choice for the movie.
