Was about to mention that. It was in Detective Comics #1000 and written by Kevin Smith.
Yep as soon as I saw it I knew what it was. This is an awesome incorporation

That shows a huge amount of promise, love the look and the music. I'm hopeful Pattinson surprises a lot of people, I think he's got the chops to pull it off. Plus, I just trust Reeves to make the right call.

Anyone that hasn't seen Good Time should check it out, he stars in it, was written/directed by the Safdie brothers who also did Uncut Gems. I haven't seen The Lighthouse yet but I'll check it out at some point.

I have a few questions about this movie, but Pattinson sure isn't one of them.
i see that sentiment a lot, which is encouraging, but i know very little about him and i don't think i've ever seen him in a film.

so for you to say that, is that based on any specific performances of his or just other stuff you've heard/read?

Most people know him from Twilight as head sparkly vampire. However in the past 5-6 years or so, he has taken on a lot of meaty roles in smaller films, notably one with the Safdie brothers (They just made Uncut Gems with Adam Sandler). I havent seen Lighthouse, doesnt look interesting to me, but apparently he is good in it too.

He was really good in Lighthouse. He was also comically good as this arrogant French prince in The King.

He's managed to parlay his time in these smaller roles to two big budget action film roles - this and the upcoming Nolan movie, Tenet

Was not expecting this at all. Such a different interpretation, but cool as hell nonetheless...

So... I'm watching Zoe Kravitz in the new High Fidelity series adaptation on Hulu, and she's kind of amazing in it. Definitely a side of her we haven't seen before. I still think she's too small to play a formidable Catwoman, but at least in the acting/attitude department, I'm absolutely coming around. Regardless, I highly recommend the show itself, something that never in a million years should work, but somehow does, incredibly well.

Pattinson is a legit lead. He's "leveled up" since his debut as a sparkly vampire. "Water For Elephants" and a smaller, less seen film called "Good Time" are two VERY different films that show his range.

Of all the legit concerns for ANOTHER Batman, Pattinson is not on the list.

One of my good college friends, who is obsessed with all things Batman (comics, movies, video games), texted me about this a couple days ago, out of the blue.

He absolutely HATES the cowl. Says the eyebrows are too pronounced and the eyes look wrong.

This made me take another look, and he's absolutely right. It looks like Daredevil.

Here's hoping it looks better in the movie.

100% this look graduates to a more traditional cowl for the 3rd act of the movie

I think it's hard to say definitively without seeing the ears first, and seeing it all in the proper lighting, context, etc. I admit that the stitched leather look isn't my favorite, but I can appreciate the homemade vibe, this being only his second year in action. I think we need to see the greater world/production design as well, as I think it's all really going to compliment that vibe, with the '70s detective feel and the older-looking parts of London standing in for Gotham. Also, as Alias said, there's no way he doesn't upgrade at some point in the movie.

A future movie needs Ralph Fiennes as the main villain so Pattison can finally avenge Cedric Diggory's death.

Man, that suit is wild. And growing on me more and more. I also love the bat ears on the front of the bike.

I was worried about the ears on the cowl, but they're great.

I feel like the suit will slim down as the trilogy progresses. Or at least hope so. This is a great beginner suit for Batman.

sorry to derail a bit, but was there any final word on if Caville was done as Superman? i really liked him in that role, and i would be fine if they just pretended like B vs. S and justice league never happened. with this looking promising, it gives me hope for the other DC superstar.

Curious as to who the woman is, as she's definitely on camera and not part of the crew. That's gotta be Catwoman, right (her stunt double, at least)? Also, her bike has the same tire tread as Batman's, and shares a couple other features, as if they're part of the same general design. And notice the two compartments at the back of either side of her bike. There's a breathable cage/window area as if there's some kind of pets in there. So odd...

Man, is Batman socially awkward. Takes a girl on a date to the cemetary wearing his costume.

Also, for those curious, I'm assuming they're doing what they did with Cavill's/Superman's cape and making it CGI for sequences like these.

New armor looks cool. Brings new meaning to the term Dark Knight considering that's the closest version to old school armor that we've seen.

*** WARNING: SUPER NERDY DESIGN DEEP DIVE ***

I'm all in on the new suit/armor. It's a cool, tactical, linebacker-ish look that is believable as homemade, and stands apart from all previous suits. I really do love it.

What I'm still not sold on is the new cowl.

First of all, I *do* like that it's a return to the wide jawline area that reveals more of the face. Bale's smaller chin/moth opening made the most sense in terms of an effective disguise, but this...

... is reminiscent of the wide, classic Keaton jawline area that I always loved the most...

What I'm not a huge fan of is the nose and the ears. The wide, rounded nose looks too old school to me, and I'm not a fan of the way the ears are flatter and seem to angle outwards, almost looking like antenna...

Re: the ears, the above has a slightly goofy, '43 Batman vibe to me...

IMO, the best ears were from Keaton's suit and Bale's TDK suit...

... with Bale's my favorite overall. The way the ears angle all the way down to the top of the jawline gives the entire cowl such a solid, part-of-the-whole, well-designed feel. While, comparatively, again, the ears almost feel like an afterthought on The Batman cowl.

However, this is the best angle/look of the new cowl I've seen by far, where it all seems to work together best...

All that said, we have almost zero context in terms of the look/production design for the rest of the movie. And if it has a hint of the rumored '70s crime movie feel, combined with the gothic London vibe of Gotham we seem to be getting in this iteration, the cowl should look better and make more sense on film and in its intended surroundings.

For completion/comparative sake, here's Affleck's cowl as well, which features my least favorite ears (which look more like Daredevil horns), though I like just about everything else...
