Agreed. I'm trying to understand the red/fire design motif, as nothing in the trailer suggests that the movie itself has a red tint/tone or that fire plays a prominent role in the plot. If anything, it's the exact opposite, as part of the Riddler's plots seems to involve water and the flooding Gotham to a degree. It just feels inconsistent, that's all, and is especially frustrating when the trailers are all-timers and the movie itself looks absolutely stunning, like so much care went into it all. Yet all of the posters have felt like an afterthought, basically.
And that's why I hope the throw the Phoenix Joker in the garbage. Do not bring it into this universe. I have zero desire to see that ever again.PatAg said:
I imagine it will also have to do with rewatchability, and how 'down' the movie makes you feel.
we were aware that there was something absurd about being Batman. Because you wear a suit to do this. And the humor of the film, which is actually quite present, comes from there. When we were reading the script, Robert pointed out to me that the humor comes from the fact that(2/3) pic.twitter.com/aaspNzqcty

I don't need every superhero film to have a funny moment to be good. It's what marvel is good at but other films tend to try too hard and are awkward about it trying to copy marvel.
Yes, just about every version of Batman (movies, animated series) there is humor present in Batman. It's not going to be the same as Guardians of the Galaxy, but it should be there.Sea Speed said:
I appreciate some good dark humor though. Not the fin type they have in gotg. I wouldn't hate batman making some super dark joke.
100% agree with this about Disney. Literally everything they've done it seems since GOTG has been trying to reach that level of humor.Champ Bailey said:Madmarttigan said:

I feel like ever since GOTG came out, Disney has tried to copy that type of humor into every other movie or tv show in both Marvel and Star Wars, even when it's not that type of movie. Batman doesn't need humor.
Robert Pattinson: ‘The Batman’ Opening Shot Is ‘So Jarring’ and Feels Unlike Any Other Batman Movie https://t.co/B8sAgIcCmi

"I watched a rough cut of the movie by myself. And the first shot is so jarring from any other Batman movie that it's just kind of a totally different pace," Pattinson said. "It was what Matt was saying from the first meeting I had with him: 'I want to do a '70s noir detective story, like "The Conversation."' And I kind of assumed that meant the mood board or something, the look of it. But from the first shot, it's, 'Oh, this actually is a detective story.'
Pattinson continued, "I feel like an idiot, because I didn't even know that Batman was 'the world's greatest detective'; I hadn't heard that in my life before - but it really plays. Just 'cause there's a lot of stuff where he's in amongst the cops. Normally, when you see Batman he arrives and beats people up. But he's having conversations, and there are emotional scenes between them, which I don't think have been in any of the other movies."

Anyone get tickets to the March 1st showings? They went on sale at 11:00. I went at 11:15 and all but the first two rows were sold out. Guess I'll wait until the Thursday showings.
