This continues to look SO. DAMN. GOOD.

Honestly, the action may very well top Nolan's version. There's something more visceral and better-choreographed/shot here than what even he did.

This really does look damn near perfect.

Wow.

Action scenes definitely top the Nolan trilogy, just from the three trailers so far.

A lot of the movie plot was just given, which is interesting, but will be really cool seeing it all come together.

I haven't seen a movie in theaters since February 2020, but this is a day one for me. Probably going to get the very first showing possible in my area.

I was 100% against RP as Batman but these trailers look epic. But they need to stop so they don't spoil too much

Agreed. I posted earlier on this thread that I would probably never see this movie, but after seeing the trailers, I am coming around quickly. Will now most likely catch it in the theater right after the release.

I was thinking the same thing. I don't know how the good the actual movie will be but this seems to turn up the Nolan's grittiness as much as Nolan turned up Burton's

I think he makes an excellent Batman. But his Bruce Wayne is so emo looking. The hair, the eye liner, the pouty downer face. I'm not sold on that. Hopefully he doesn't come across that way in the movie.

For what its worth, based on the quote Reeves gave in the lead up to the trailer today, they're going for a Bruce Wayne as "a recluse rock star in a decaying Wayne Manor" kind of thing. So, through that lens, the Trent Reznor/dark-haired Kurt Cobain vibe feels very intentional (and gives the score a bit more meaning/intentionality too).

Here's a quote from Reeves in Empire Magazine set to come out next week:

"When I write, I listen to music, and as I was writing the first act, I put on Nirvana's 'Something In The Way',"

"That's when it came to me that, rather than make Bruce Wayne the playboy version we've seen before, there's another version who had gone through a great tragedy and become a recluse. So I started making this connection to Gus Van Sant's Last Days, and the idea of this fictionalised version of Kurt Cobain being in this kind of decaying manor."

The ideal actor for the job? Pattinson, whose astonishing performance in the Safdie Brothers' Good Time had caught Reeves' attention. "In that movie you could really feel his vulnerability and desperation, but you could also feel his power," the director explains. "I thought that was a great mix. He's also got that Kurt Cobain thing, where he looks like a rock star, but you also feel like he could be a recluse."

I think it actually makes a lot of sense. These trailers are setting up the most violent of the Batman movies. This looks like a Bruce Wayne that isn't interested in presenting a diametrically opposed Batman and Bruce Wayne. This looks like the Bruce Wayne that becomes Batman, he's manifesting all his darkness. He's sad, he's angry, and that's who he is. He's a guy so consumed with anger and grief that he doesn't feel the need to hide it. I think it's a fresh and honest way of looking at the character. I thought that's one thing Affleck did really well as Bruce Wayne, it always felt like he was barely hanging on to me, like he was carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. And given the consequences of the Snyder films that makes complete sense, the stakes were huge in those films, he was always having to deal with the end of the world, not just Gotham. Bale was great at playing the socialite Bruce Wayne, but he was hiding what was deep down a lot more than the others. It's nice they each get a distinct Bruce Wayne, they're not all playing the same guy.

Everything I see about this movie makes me more excited. This is the Batman I've been waiting for ever since The Dark Knight.

I have heard that rumor as well although it seems to stem solely from the internet learning Keoghan is in the movie and thinking it's suspicious he has been kind of hidden.

I do agree at this point he seems like too big an actor to be absent from the promos and just a mid-level role. And he definitely has a villainous "it factor". It certainly makes you raise your eyebrows.

Is he really a big actor? Never heard of him before this

He's getting bigger and just kind of grabs your attention in most everything he's in. Most recently Eternals. He's definitely on a very upward trajectory right now.

I'd say the speculation is that given his growing acting profile - him being cast under the radar in a very mid-level, non-essential role for this movie is curious. And the fact is, he just seems like a perfect fit for this world's Joker. He is younger like this Bruce Wayne, and just kind of has that type of presence to him. And man can he play sinister and unsettling.

But maybe he is just a low-level cop and the internet is just internettin... We'll find out soon enough. For the record, I was suspicious at first, but I do not think he's the future Joker.

Yeah, I've decided to stop watching anymore trailers. I have seen enough to know I have to see this movie. Anything else is just a spoiler.

Same. Snyder had a similar shot in BvS, and it was so creepy looking, in the best way. Same vibe here.

One thing Snyder did really well was the creepiness factor of Batman, especially at the beginning of BvS, and is highlighted a bit more in the "ultimate edition".

I really am enjoying these nods to past Batman iterations

So I've been looking at the new tv spot, plus some Reddit threads..

In the shot where he's hanging from the ceiling, Batman is wearing a more comic accurate suit. It could just be the CGI wasn't finished, but there weren't any pads or armor

Here's a link to some images that "prove" it. Posting in a link in case people don't want potential (super small) spoilers.

Very interesting. I've always thought that by film's end we'd get a "new" Bruce Wayne, i.e. the more clean-cut, playboy version we're a costumed to, as this movie seems to partly deal with Bruce going from recluse to potentially learning how to be "Bruce Wayne" publicly and wrangle those demons in some way. So, similarly, I wonder if, by film's end, we also get a more experienced Batman as well, new suit and all, seeing as this is primarily a "year one" story. So, we have an evolution of both Bruce AND Batman to end the movie, and that shot in particular is from the very end, like even after the climax.

Here's the tv spot I was talking about. Only one new shot not in the most recent trailer. No new dialogue.

I guess I'm in the minority here. I feel like the tailor looked much better than the Affleck Batman, but it didn't really look like anything revolutionary. More like just a return to the Nolan style Batman. I'm also still not sold on RP. Originally, I thought he would probably do a decent Bruce Wayne, but not a great Batman. Now, it looks like his Batman might be decent, but in the preview, his Bruce Wayne did not look great.

Anyways, I guess I'm saying the preview looks good, but it's basically what I would expect from a Batman movie. Not really mind blowing (unless you consider DC making a decent Batman movie to be mind blowing, which is fair).

To each his own, and I'm not trying to talk you out of your opinion or anything, but I can at least try and articulate why this version stands out to me, personally...

- First and foremost, a number of fans - myself, especially, and even a few others on this very board - have always dreamed of a David Fincher-director Batman. In short, we've essentially wanted Seven, but with Batman as the detective, and this looks about as close as we're ever going to get to that, eerily and awesomely so, right down to the Riddler's entire vibe.

- Whereas Nolan's version is more spectacle and action-oriented, this looks to be a moodier, grittier thriller. Which is an important distinction to make. Nolan's movies were essentially massive action movies. This version, however, looks to be a detective thriller with action in it. Apparently Reeves used Chinatown as an inspiration, and you can definitely see that here.

- I've said this before, but the cinematography here so far is some of the best I've ever seen in a blockbuster. From the specific type of film used, to the lighting, the framing, the camera movement, etc... it's all just perfect, IMO, and *exactly* what I want something like this to look like. Nolan's movies of course look incredible in their own right, especially in IMAX, but there's something here that's just a bit more artistic and visceral that really grabs my attention.

- Maybe the most distinguishing factor, though, is something we touched on earlier in the thread, and that's Bruce as somewhat of a depressed, Kurt Cobain-esque recluse, who doesn't yet know how to be the somewhat aloof, clean-cut, playboy version of Bruce we know and love. The Bruce here doesn't yet know how to channel his pain and his rage into *only* his Batman persona and, in turn, use a more gregarious Bruce persona in public. In Nolan's version, literally days after Bruce arrives back in Gotham from his stint int he League of Shadows, he already knows exactly how to be the charming, public-facing Bruce Wayne he needs to be. Which is totally fine, and the version Nolan wanted to tell. But I love that Reeves has chosen to make that particular aspect a major struggle for Bruce in this iteration, and not have him simply be able to turn on the "Bruce Wayne" facade quite yet.

I wouldn't necessarily consider this spoilery, as everything he's gleaning is based on connected dots solely from the latest trailer. But as a warning for those looking to go in as fresh as possible, or an incentive for those who are curious, it certainly feels like he has broadest of strokes figured out...
