Finale: My one minor complaint is I don't like Robbie's turn. After two full seasons of being with Miyagi-Do, I'm not sure I buy why he suddenly is loyal to Kreese. I get him hating Johnny, but Daniel? I know he put him in jail, but still. My hope is he returns to the good side eventually. I'm guessing he'll be Kreese's champion at the tournament but he probably flips back after. Tory will probably be the main Kreese fighter beyond that.

Really enjoyed seeing Miguel with Daniel though.

I hope she doesn't, kinda don't like seeing every character do karate. It would be best if she just sticks around for moral support
That is a completely legitimate point, one I hadn't considered. You don't want karate to be the magical superpower every character can learn to solve all their problems in life.

I do think one of the best things in s3 is they accurately depicted the hysteria around bullying and how cancel culture negatively affects lives. They also showed how helpless schools are to stop it, and how their half-measures are failures.

What does everyone think of the Creese backstory? I like how we see the beginning of the relationship with Terry Silver. Of course we have to wait until s4 to see who the mystery friend is who he 'saved' from fighting in Vietnam

Silver was nicknamed Ponytail in the backstory. I don't think they'd bring him back after he flopped in KKIII

Unless I missed something and am confusing two people, they call him Silver several times throughout the flashbacks.

I don't think the quality of the prior movies really matters. The show has shown that they're making it a much better story this time. Silver will be Kreese's partner just like Johnny and Daniel are partners now.

I say keep the spoiler tag for a week then after that it's fair game. I mean I binged the show in the span of a week so that seems like an appropriate time.

So what will the new co-dojo be named?

Gotta say that the Ali appearance was cool, but I'm glad it didn't go further than it did.

Robby and kreese and Tory are all really annoying. I know they need a Kreese bad guy but bleh. Robby + Kreese is just sigh*

Still loved it and binged it all day.

All three of them on the same team next season is just going to be awful. Robby flopping to Cobra Kai was inevitable once Kreese took control. Daniel had too much faith in Robby. He should have seen that coming.

Imo, the best episode this season was probably episode 5 with Chozen.

Well except for Daniels son. Not sure why they haven't Chuck'd him out.

Glad the show got rid of Chubbs and the Larusso son. But I'm tired of Samantha as the hero. She pretty much causes all the drama while her parents act as the enablers. I know it's fiction, but Dimitri should not have stayed friends with her.

I wonder if Kreese will have some sort of redemption story. The whole POW thing makes him more of a sympathetic character. Like one of those vets with PTSD who later end up committing suicide by cop.

Honestly if anyone would understand being paralyzed by fear it's Dimitri.

I found it harder for him to forgive Hawk so easily.

I think that in the real world Hawk would not be forgiven that easy for all the **** he has done but this show has a lot of things you gotta overlook and just enjoy the fun.

I agree. But I said that as we were nitpicking.

I had a totally different take on that. I saw it as trying to make us sympathize with Kreese...until the final "twist" where they get rescued, and he kills his CO anyway. Basically I saw that as confirmation that this guy is just a complete pos and fully evil.

I think at the MOST, they would say that he is a POS and fully evil BECAUSE outside forces made him that way. That he wasn't born that way. After all, he was clearly sympathetic prior to killing the CO. If they wanted him to be evil through and through, then they wouldn't have shown any of that pre-story at the diner. It also could be said that Kreese was "enacting justice" on the CO. The CO was willing to toss lives away like they were nothing. Maybe in Kreese's mind, killing his CO was the way to save future lives. And now he's teaching all these kids to "grow up" and live in the "real world". That he is doing them a favor by making sure they aren't coddled.

Who would have thought that a show based on Karate Kid would have this sort of nuanced discussion.

The whole show requires nuanced discussion.

Everyone is in shades of grey except for Kreese. Is there any grey to him?

I felt sympathy for him with the suicide of his mother and his Vietnam experience. Seems his CO pushed him past his breaking point

He's the one person who we haven't seen shades of grey with, IMO. (Well him and Kyler...)

But it is crazy that THAT is exactly what has made this show so great. I mean hell...our allegiances sometimes shift in the same episode, let alone in a single season.

They've managed to get us to love Miguel, to kinda hating him, and now we all like him again. And invert that for Robbie.

I really enjoyed Ali telling both Daniel and Johnny that they were both at fault for their rivalry.

He was typecast as a villain in the '80s, but he actually has an impressive filmography if your ever take a look. I think one of the reasons people enjoy him so much now is because he's showing the range of his acting ability, that he can play a flawed hero.

I don't think he had enough self awareness to realize he was not a kid. Because in the final scene of season two he was still training.

Stingray hiding in the leaves in season 2 was one of the best scenes in the show. Think I spit my drink out when he shot up and grabbed Miguel.

Finished it today. Another fun season that didn't disappoint. Someone once said that good music will go in a better direction than you expect, and I think the same can be said about this show. Episode 5 with Chozen is a perfect example.

And as for the music, I always considered "Open Arms" and "In the Air Tonight" to be ok 80s songs, but in episode 10 they were amazing choices that gave me goosebumps.

Love this show but sam is the WORST. She just cries about all the problems she causes.
