15 comic book movies with higher critic RT scores than Justice League (41% critic score and 82% audience score). Interesting article whether you liked or disliked the movie (more enraging if you liked it).

Okay, I just have to say that I've always LOVED watching Dick Tracy. Sure, there are issues: Beatty isn't that great as Tracy, Pacino is doing his worst Pacino impression ever, Madonna can't really act and there are waaayyyy too many celebrity cameos that only distract.

However, the movie looks absolutely fantastic. The set design, the color palette, Elfman's score, even the latex prosthetics on the villains....that movie nailed the Sunday comics feel of the source material.

who in their right mind would have ever thought that a movie about an Earthling, a green gal, a big guy, a raccoon and a tree would have been so good (other than Marvel)?
It's so impressive that they were able to pull that off.

Even Iron Man was maybe a third tier comic character when they started these movies. Most people forget that. So impressive.

Marvel got lucky with Iron Man. It was a relatively unknown property that they hadn't sold to a big studio and stumbled into getting the perfect director to cast it with actors that look good in the costumes but also had the acting chops to become the character. Favreau knowing how to tell the story with heart and humor was icing on the cake.

Thinking about it it's sad how they treated Favreau. He gave them a map to a trillion dollar treasure and Marvel swindled him out of his fair share.

Don't know how Zack Snyder was able to get his foot back in the door after bombing on The Watchmen.

Favreau seems okay with it now. I'm sure he was mad about the impact the studio had on IM2, but probably also realized that Avengers wasn't going to be his bag.

At some point I'm not sure doing all the right things can really be considered "lucky".

I don't think Favreau is mad at all. He's been executive producer in other films and has appeared two more times as an actor. With more to come.

Marvel didn't want Robert Downey Jr to be Tony Stark.

Heard a radio interview with Howard Stern I believe that said that wasn't the case.

He actually said he was smart to cast himself as Happy to make it harder for Marvel to get rid of him completely.

But Favreau REALLY did.

You can say they got lucky with that choice, but they made a really good movie. It would've still been good with someone else, probably just not AS good.

Finally got around to seeing this. Makes it hard with a 2 year old and minimal babysitter availability.

Will be interesting to see how they do Flash origin as he already has his powers but hadn't started working yet at the crime lab. If they're doing flashpoint I guess they fit it in a lot of good backstory when he goes back in time.

Cyborg had a lot cleaner look at the end in the scene with his dad, better than the look for the majority of the movie.

The only scene I really noticed the mustache thing was the face to face with Bruce at the monument and yeah it was silly looking.

Good to see some Lanterns show up even though it was brief.

Thought overall it was better than the internet made it out to be. Excited to see where Aquaman goes next year.

Legion of Doom in the future? Deathstroke looked really really good.

And they clearly showed a ring being dislodged from one of the Lantern's hand to set up a ring already being on Earth.

Meh. Rings don't stay on the planet where the Lantern dies. They are in charge of an entire sector of space. The next worthy candidate may be elsewhere.

The problem they're gonna have adding a lantern is that at best he's a role player with an already existing Justice league. With Superman back, finding use other than exposition from the others will be hard. Unless they introduce a lantern that can go toe to toe with SM, which isn't likely.

The real hero of all this is Terrence "I want a raise" Howard. Every time a new movie featuring War Machine comes out, he should lock Terrence in a room and make him watch 2 Girls, 1 Cup for 24 hours straight.

Got up this morning, decided I wanted to go to a movie, and went to see Justice League a second time.

Yeah, the movie could have been so much better, but damn was I still entertained. This movie should never have been made at this time - they should have invested the effort and time into producing stand-alone movies for each of these characters, but this is what we have. It is an entertaining comic book movie. I cannot state whether it is true to its comic origins or not, but that really didn't concern me. I just enjoy seeing these characters on the screen, I guess. I did make an effort to listen to the score more closely, and this time was able to pick out John Williams' original Superman theme, and Danny Elfman's original Batman theme (in addition to Hans Zimmer's work on Man of Steel). And probably my favorite part is the first end-credit scene of Superman racing the Flash to the West Coast.

Agreed. Looking forward to blu ray release as I suspect there will be some more character building scenes for cyborg especially.

My main beef is the lack of backstory for Cyborg. I am familiar with all of the other characters from way back as a kid (although this Aquaman doesn't suck) but Cyborg is new to me. I did go watch an animated story that explained it all, but the movie just skips how he has the third motherbox thing as part of him and how it got there. And yeah, how does Barry have powers but hasn't yet worked in the crime lab?

I do disagree with the comment "these characters don't belong in the same universe." The Justice League is a thing and has been for a long long time. And it's awesome.

I finally saw it this week, and I loved it. As a film, maybe not so awesome/perfect, but for a geeked-out JL fan it was pretty cool to see.

woof....man that was not good.

I'm not sure where to begin, so i'll just start at the beginning:
  • WTH was up with that pointless cell phone footage scene?
  • My god WTF is wrong with Superman's mouth?! HOW does THAT happen? How does a studio ALLOW that to happen? It was glaringly awful EVERY scene and I found myself more involved with what his mouth was doing than what it was actually saying in the dialogue (which may have been a net positive).
  • I don't understand Batman's opening scene...he was tracking a thief to lure one of those parademons? and the actual combat/hanging flying scene was campy as hell. and then let the thief go? Such a sloppy opening.
  • CGI in the entire film was terribad. From Superman's mouth, to the Batcave, weird tentacle roots, Fake AF cornfield...Cyborg's face was the only aspect I found competently done (his body sucked tho). This was the most gratuitous green screen porn I've seen since Peter Jackson's "The Hobbit - BOTFA." And the quality was just as bad.
  • Batman couldn't find Barry Allen.....but he was able to find his 'lair'? What was the point of having the prison guard alert him he was visiting his father if he already knew where he was hiding?
  • Sooo if "Wonder Woman" was +1 for feminism...JL has to be -2, no? So many obvious close ups of her ass and 'undercarriage' in this movie. It was like the director knew the only people they could please with this film would be men just looking to ogle Gal Gadot. The rest of the movie made her look like 'mother goose', incapable of making her own decision.
  • Atlantis was a freaking joke. We got all of 2 min with it and they didn't show ANYTHING. If there was one thing this movie needed, it was an Aquaman setup film.
  • Superman's revival....ugh
  • His appearance against Steppenwolf should have felt triumphant, but instead he throws a couple punches and then has to jet out because "civilians?" It was so herky-jerky and none of the conflict felt like there anything huge at stake.
  • Steppenwolf got the 'mother boxes' aaaaaannd....nothing happened.
Gonna have to rapid fire these, or I'll have to type out 100,000 words to adequately express how sloppy and bad this movie was...

  • The Flash's running motion literally made me LOL (unlike any of the intentionally funny scenes).
  • What exactly happened when Batman grappled the Flash while he was running? Was that supposed to happen?
  • Soo Wonder Woman can move faster than a bullet.....cool.
  • Why is Batman dumb?
  • Cavill still has the charisma and charm of a potato. Looks the part - can't act the part.
  • The dialogue was soooooo terrible. When Lois told Superman he 'smelled good'? or when he responded how it felt to comeback 'it was itchy?' And the one-liners weren't any better: "I didn't bring a sword"...."At least I didn't bring a pitchfork"...."booyah"...."Hell yea"...."I work with children" -- I couldn't handle the ****ing one liners. They were too ****ing cheesy.
  • What happened to the score? I literally can't recall any music. Did they even utilize WW's theme? or Superman's theme? (Both are really good)

I'm sure there's much more, but like WB, I'm throwing in the towel. How THIS movie is allowed to be made, is baffling. In this over-saturated market of superhero films, JL has the highest ceiling. It SHOULD rise above any of them. DC has better heroes and villains, but what WB is allowing to happen is a joke. This whole universe needs to be imploded. Affleck is done. Cavill is done. You can't have a JL with two lame duck actors portraying Batman and Superman.

Start over. Start right. Build from the ground up. No shortcuts. Storyboard a JL movie with 1 vision. Cut your production budget in half and focus on character development. We don't need 20 min long CGI battles if it sacrifices the motivations of the heroes (and villains) fighting in them. I want to know more about Barry Allen. I want to know more about Aquaman. I WANT to know more about Steppenwolf. Give that to me and you can keep the 'surfing parademon through a building' scene.
Just ran across this YouTube...it explains the "Booyah" line, the red skies (mentioned somehere in this or the DC Univers thread, and other such things.

I finally saw this last night and it was a freaking mess.

I could not stand the guy playing Flash and his character was barely utilized. His powers are such that he's one of the most powerful heroes out there yet no one would know that from this movie.

Supermans arc was stupid and anti-climatic. The CGI mouth was terrible and incredibly distracting.

Wonder Woman went from being and defeating a literal God in her movie to second tier hero here. The lack of power continuity with her is going to drive me crazy.

I thought going in I would hate Cyborgs character and that was confirmed.

Steppenwolf kept reminding me of a cgi character from another movie. I think his face was copied. Maybe one of those recent fantasy movies with giants? Someone else may have noted this because I didn't read this whole thread.

Motherbox not explained.

I did enjoy the Green Lantern Easter egg in the flashback scene because it gave me hope that will happen and then simultaneous despair that WB will screw it up again.

Not here to bash the movie, finally watched and have a couple of questions I am hoping others can answer. Maybe I missed these things as I had to split my viewing, so be gentle.

Why couldn't Steppenwolf just teleport to the 3rd mother box? Why did he need to torture folks to find the location? I thought it might be because it had to be "flipped on" but the other 2 were also dormant until they activated on their own.

Related to the 3rd mother box, since it was needed to resurrect Supes does that mean the post credits scene in BvS with the earth above his casket floating mean nothing?

Last, with Steppenwolf disappearing via the same type of portal he arrived in mean someone else is operating it and he didn't have control of it? I saw darkseid (sp?) mentioned but I don't know his story and if he was controlling the portal.
Brick Tamland
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The box had to wake up. That's how he knows where it is. If you notice, the box of man is a normal cube until Flash wakes it up to resurrect Superman. When it lands on the cop car it is buzzing like the previous two boxes. If it's not woken up, he doesn't know where to find it. He knew the general location, hence the underground tunnel scene with the STAR Labs employees.

I think the floating dirt was just a "hey he's not really dead" moment because you can't have a cinematic universe without Superman.

No clue on the boom tubes. I imagine Steppenwolf can control it but he was pulled off Earth by Darkseid, and Darkseid was supposed to kill him at the end of the Snyder cut.
Pro Ag

So would the 3rd box have woken up on its own anyway like the other two? That the first two woke up on their own is what made it more confusing for me.

Thanks for the other answers too.
Brick Tamland

I'm sure they sped up the amount of time between the Amazonian box and the Atlantean box being retrieved, since it wasn't crucial to the plot, and then slowed it down before the third box was retrieved since it directly dealt with our heroes.
