One major complaint, the score was weak sauce. Needed at least the JW theme, or the JP theme preferably. (At least we finally get it over the credits.)
I thought that as well.

Then, I saw the Incredibles 2 over the weekend and saw that Michael Giacchino did the score for that (the original was one of the first major projects he did). And his Incredibles 2 score was outstanding.

I wonder if having two major blockbuster franchise projects that came out a week apart had something to do with why one movie got a fantastic score and the other a lesser effort?

Seeing it this afternoon, but after all the reactions here and on Twitter, I could not be more dispassionate about the whole thing. No human being should be this "meh" about dinosaurs at this point, but here we are. What a sad state of affairs. Will report back this evening...

I personally didn't care for it. The storyline was weak sauce.

The black/mixed or whatever histrionic kid was very over the top.

As a lifelong fan of the series, which I like even more than Aggie sports, I'd rather they pump these out than those Fast and Furious movies that should have ended after Paul Walker died.
A lot easier to like Jurassic Park than Aggie Sports. Dinosaurs expected to eat people, proceed to eat people. Aggie sports expected to win championships, end up looking like Nedry vs. the dilophosaurs.

I agree with a lot of what was said but one thing that bothered me was...

What happened to the nanny? She really just left when the old man just died at a suspicious time, has no idea where the girl is and there is a dinosaur auction happening in the basement? I kept waiting for her to show up again but she never did.

I think a better comparison is the Carnotaurus against the T. Rex. Looks threatening and then gets easily taken down by a superior predator.

And I think the Enterprise D could take on a Star Destroyer!

Did anyone else notice that when the generic, evil army guy went to open the "bad guy raptor" cage, that there was no lock at all? It literally looked like he just walked over and pulled a small latch to open the door. Maybe the "bad guy raptor" wasn't so smart after all.

The Raptor had already picked and eaten the lock. A little indigestion caused the delay for the scene we saw play out.

So are the new JW movies based on the notion that JP2 and JP3 didn't happen? Struck me after watching the new one on Sunday. If Isla Sorna exists and the events of JP2 did happen, then there is a whole other island already of dinosaurs coexisting and being left alone. Parts of the JW2 story don't make sense if that is true.
Goro Majima
How long do you want to ignore this user?
No, they definitely happened. Sorna was basically the feeder system where many animals were bred, and some of the events of 3 were acknowledged in supplemental materials. For example, the spinosaurus was basically a prototype for creating hybrids and the pteranodons that flew off at the end of 3 were killed by Vincent D'Ononofrio's character in World.

I know the post credit scene was supposed to hint at the location for JW3, but I would have had the pterodactyl land on a "Welcome to Enid Oklahoma" sign as a Jurassic Park 3 easter egg.

If that's the case, then why is it so important to save the dinosaurs from Isla Nublar as they are the very last of their kind? Are we to assume that through building Jurassic World on Nublar that they cleaned out Sorna?

Goro Majima
How long do you want to ignore this user?
It wasn't so much save the dinosaurs, it was a front for the whole "let's profit and sell to the highest bidders."

Isla Sorna dinos weren't in danger.

if they were still on the island the whole fight to save the dinosaurs would have been different. The entire argument was about saving de-extinct animals from re-extinction.

The operation to move the surviving animals from Isla Sorna to the park site on Isla Nublar was critical to their well-being. A considerable and mystifying drop in population on Isla Sorna had recently been discovered; some paleontologists claimed it was the result of territorial disputes, others argued disease was the catalyst, while some scientists even placed the blame on the animals' behavior. Recent revelations linked to the corruption of the Gene Guard Act by members of Masrani Global confirm the true cause the introduction of illegally cloned animals on the island in 1999 caused a profound impact on the ecosystem. The term "Chaos Effect," coined from Dr. Ian Malcolm's book God Creates Dinosaurs, has since become the accepted term for describing the radical and unnatural changes that took place on Isla Sorna.

So I had to read some random website setup for the film to get that information.....nice

Well, that explains it at least.

So I went on a lock-down for this movie, and just got home from seeing it. No idea what TA's thoughts are on it, but damn that was a fun movie. Intense for the last hour. My heart felt like it was racing a marathon. Was genuinely surprised with the nature of the little girl. Good time at the movie.

For Incredibles 2 he just had to rip off/replicate JG Thirwell though

In order to weaponize the "bad guy raptor" someone has to point at a target using their laser/sound gun. Wouldn't it be easier to just hold a normal gun and fire normal bullets? I mean if you are already in the area pointing your gun at a target then you might as well cut out the middle man. Just seems like a lot of trouble (feeding/housing the "bad guy raptor") for little gain. It can't be cheap to add a "bad guy raptor" cage to your generic, Russian bad guy compound.

It's genius, instead of wasting bullets that might cost pennies to replace you have an animal that cost and is worth millions and millions (demonstrated right after that in fact) but unlike the bullet presumably you have to feed and keep healthy and can form a healthy bond with. Morale will skyrocket! Imagine curling up in a foxhole with your warm pal Blue!

This works great until the tree huggers get wind of it and start campaigning to stop the animal abuse. Then they start wanting to adopt these dinosaur pit bulls who are obviously the most loving animal you could ever imagine.

Isn't that the reason of designing hybrids in JW1?
