The turn will be that the rescue operation that is supposed to be taking the dinos to a new preserve, is actually handing them over to Wu. The approved government rescue was really a veiled attempt for the government or Ingen to recover the work for continued exploitation.

Personally, I'd prefer a movie that fits the tone and style of JP1. An intimate, character driven movie that plays more Horror or Drama than action. Not some Fast & Furious-Dinosaur mashup that seems to prioritize moving the plot from 1 massive action set piece to the next above all else.

(Also better graphics would help.)

I have to say I didn't love the trailer either.

I know we all want to see dinosaurs eat people, but, 2 hours of that will get old real quick. I think the reason we all love Jurassic Park well into adulthood is because of the great characters. I can pop in the movie anytime and still love listening to Ian Malcolm explain chaos theory to Saddler.

So, I am just hoping there is still some solid writing and somewhat reasonable character motivations in this one. Because for the life of me, I cannot figure out what Claire and the other kid would be doing back on the island.

That trailer did nothing for me. I'll still go see it opening weekend because it is a Jurassic Park movie, but I hope the next trailer is better.

In the underwater scene you know the very next second after they cut is going to be Pratt diving in the water to rescue the other two in the sphere.

That looks terrible.

They need to go fast and furious with the franchise.

Basically make the Dino's sentient and have them form an elite covert operations unit to take down north korea under the leadership of special agent in charge Kirk Macklin

Absolutely. Some of those character scenes were the best scenes in the movie. For comparisons sake, there is nothing like it in any of the following sequels.

I think another factor that helps the original is that for the most part, the dinosaurs were largely animals that were not ludicrously trying to kill all humans for sport. There were bits of the Raptors chasing the group around the visitor center that definitely stretched it (trying to get into the control room, for example), but the hunt in the kitchen, ambush of Muldoon in the jungle, dilophosaurus scene, and the tyrannosaur attack at the paddock all seemed to reasonable close to how you expect a wild animal to behave: put the minimum effort required in to kill their prey.

Contrast that to the I-Rex killing everything in its path, or the raptors in Lost World killing everyone in the field, whereas in real-life a pack of predators will kill one member of a herd, eat it, and let the rest go. I'm not even going to talk about the more ludicrous scenes (like the entirety of JP3).

To add some predictions to TCTTS' guesses...

-I bet they'll say the island had been powered by thermal power and this harnessing of the thermal power relieves pressure on the volcano to keep it from erupting. With the humans gone, that machinery has broken down and an eruption is imminent.

-someone on the Dino rescue mission will secretly be working for the bad guys and betray the rest to get some Dino DNA his boss needs. That's why the good guys appear abandoned as they make their escape.

-they'll then pursue the traitor to his boss and that's how they reach the mansion, where the dinosaurs have possibly already escaped, or will escape during the visit. Odds are the raptor known as blue causes the mass escape.

I'd say that's probably pretty close. Love your volcano theory too.

My guess is that Wu and Hammond's former business partner (James Crromwell's character) are in cahoots. But I don't think the dinosaurs are shipped to that mansion in the woods. Rather, maybe they're shipped to some kind of base or compound nearby-ish, and I'm betting Wu/Cromwell already have one - or a few dinos - at that mansion, being worked on in a underground lab. Maybe some kind of super raptor or something. And then perhaps Blue is broken free from captivity somehow, makes its way to the mansion, and saves the day? Might be a little far fetched, but something along those lines. Either way, the second half sounds like it could be a lot more contained than the first half, and be more along the lines of what everyone is saying they want these movies to be - more of a thriller with just a few characters vs. a dino or two. That haunted house vibe I mentioned earlier, but with raptors or something.

Oh, and there's no way Malcolm is only in that early hearing scene. Surely he makes a surprise appearance in the second half as well.
