There just better not be a rampaging dinosaur through an American city.

Jurassic Park was already very political.

I mean... they were very subtle about it back in 1994 being pro-transgender... having dinosaurs switch from female to male like that because an old white man tried to control them.

Jurassic World 2: Attack of the Clones, co-written by George Lucas. 75% of the movie is about the senate debating the legality of dinosaur cloning. There's also raptors in Boba Fett armor.

Throw in Chris Pratt building and using a lightsaber, I'm game.

God creates dinosaurs...God destroys dinosaurs. God creates man...man destroys God. Man creates dinosaurs.

Dinosaurs...eat man. Women inherits the earth...

At this point I think the Jurassic Park franchise is better than the Star Wars franchise. Aside from the kid actors in Jurassic World, it was a great movie.

Jurassic Park has been able to create interesting Man vs Technology dilemmas that have been mostly distinct from each other while centering around a dinosaur theme park.

Star Wars totally ripped itself off. ANH = TFA. And those prequels... Damn. George Lucas invented one of the Top 10 throwaway lines ever ("You fought in the Clone Wars?" - Luke) and then summarily ruined it crapping out some ridiculous storyline about pre-Storm Troopers "clones" in the likeness of Jango Fett.

That franchise was perfect at three movies, but Disney knew they could buy it, crank out some junk and plenty of nostalgic moms and dads would take their kids to see it because that is what their parents did for them and gosh wasn't isn't it all warm and fuzzy.

I guess it is really about taking people's money subtly. I don't feel as gypped by Jurassic Park as I do by Star Wars.

Lol, you remember Jurassic park 3, right? And Jurassic park 2 was nothing amazing, either.

JP2 wasn't great but it was worlds better than JW. Remove the dumb ending and have it end on the island and it's a thoroughly slightly-but-not-by-much-above-average movie.

If you are going to point out that ANH=TFA, then you need to rewatch Jurassic World again. It is essentially the same sort of "soft reboot" as TFA, with just as much nostalgia and fan service, but TFA had interesting new characters while JW's characters were annoying as hell. Some of the problems with JW:

  • Stupid arrogant humans who haven't learned a thing about their hubris. I assume we'll get an extra helping of Malcolm talking about whether or not they could vs. whether or not they should in JW2
  • Vincent D'Onofrio's ridiculously over the top "yeah let's use these raptors in Afghanistan!!!!" villain
  • BD Wong not coming clean about what the superdino is made of in the middle of an immense crisis
  • Chris Pratt + raptors + motorcycle
  • Rehash of the raptors vs. T-Rex ending
  • Rehash of the "kids being sent to the island so their parents can deal with their marital problems without them" plot line, only this time the kids were 1000x more annoying
  • Also, they actually bothered to have the parents be in the movie to I guess add some emotional stakes to this whole "family-in-crisis" storyline, but they have so little screen time and the older brother is such a dick that nobody cares about their emotional stakes
  • Pratt and Howard's characters suddenly liking each other because....?

The Honest Trailer for Jurassic World is one of the saddest and most hilariously accurate they've done. Most Honest Trailers have fun just making you think of a movie in different ways, but every thing they point out in this one is sadly true.

Have any of you read Crichton's JP sequel The Lost World?

It is, by far, the worst POS I've ever read. It's awful. It's terrible. When the movie came out, thankfully Spielberg ditched 90% of the story. It is still by no means a good movie. In fact, it's pretty bad. However, having just read that godawful novel, the movie was such a relief because it could have been much worse.

The third movie is a glorified B-movie with a huge budget and good cast. Again, it's not a great movie. However, as a throwback B-movie, it's pretty damn entertaining.

Did a bit of digging and found a few more tidbits...

- There's going to be an animal rights (or dinosaur rights, rather) component to the film that will be political in nature. Universal has not only registered the domains AllCreaturesHaveRights.com, IslaNublarRescueMission.com, and DinosaurProtectionGroup.com, but there have been signs spotted on set saying things like "Save Our Saurs" and "#WeCanSaveThem."

I will see this movie 5 times if a bunch of whiny, annoying Social Jurassic Warriors get eaten by dinosaurs

How would this be for a crossover?

Vin Diesel leads a team (who drive Transformer cars), against a team of dinosaurs led by The Rock, who has been infected with dinosaur DNA?

Jason Statham is fighting alongside Dino-Rock, but when he realizes he's on the wrong side, they throw down.

While the fight is going on, Dom rides a Transformer into orbit. Then it turns into a Charger, and Dom uses it as a missile and crash lands right into The Rock.
