This really is surprising. I didn't feel like the movie was any of that. The editing in the first half of the movie was somewhat suspect, because they had a fit a completely different type of origin story for Batman in without ruining the movie.

How is his origin story different? I haven't seen the film yet but I thought that I read it was the same it has always been.

Brother it's pretty clear you're out on a limb here as one of the VERY few that didn't think this movie sucked. And that's fine... your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's. But you're gonna have to not act surprised when most people bash it.

I loved Wonder Woman's theme. She was the highlight for me.

While I did not enjoy it, I'm glad there are people who did like it. I am all in on Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman and hope for a solo Batfleck movie.

I would imagine that these whirlwind press junkets have got to be a huge drain both emotionally and physically. The cast has been covering half the planet in the past few weeks doing all these junkets and appearances.

It has to really be tough when you may know that the movie you're promoting may not be that good, but you have to keep a happy, optimistic face for the cameras.

I feel for Affleck because he looks just beat. Like everything has finally caught up to him and he just wants it to be over. He did his best and people seem to really like his performance, but he looks like he knows this movie is a dog and he's been flying overseas and attending premieres and press junkets and he just looks done. I believe the day after this interview he was in New York for Jimmy Fallon and he looked exhausted for that.

I think the whole cast needs a vacation after this......

Yup, they pretty much borrowed the art direction from TDKR and that's about it.

This. Was. A. Mess. I tried to like it, I really did. After the RT scores I lowered my expectations to dumb popcorn Transformers level and I still enjoyed so little of it. There's enough elements of a good movie that I can understand why some people liked it but the overall product for me was a disappointing dud. The critics aren't being harsh, they're being accurate. I have no idea why any of yall would wanna know my thoughts but here goes.

Cons:
-Snyderisms. So much slowmo. So much bad CGI (****less Doomsday seriously looked like those horrible cave trolls in the Hobbit). And the ultimate Snyderism, inability to tell a coherent narrative. The reason they fight and the reason they stop fighting are just so forced. Way too many dream sequences. Heavy handed with the Devil, God, Angel symbolism as if this dialogue would make this movie more epic and mythic.Snyder's storytelling makes Bay look like Inarritu.

-Pacing and editing are atrocious. Second act drags, never has any rhythm and when you're about to maybe feel something it cuts to something else. So much shoehorning, the JL introduction via email is so out of place and ridiculous (stolen from reddit... Batman V. Superman: CC of Justice).

-I'm usually not one of those people complaining about showing too much in trailers but the handful of legit goosebump moments were spoiled by the marketing. The warehouse takedown, the full Wonder Woman reveal and trinity shot, Lex's if man wont kill God the Devil will line should've all had resonance but didn't.

-Eisenberg was a misstep in what should've been a slam dunk IMO. I don't understand who thought the sneaker dotcom ADHD Lex was a good idea. Lex's lines would be so much better if they went with a different vibe. It's so easy to make Lex work, just let a handsome dude with a baritone do a supervillain monologue. Hell let Dinklage do it.

-Adams doesn't really do much in the second half. I guess other than throw the Kryptonite spear in some water and then manage to get trapped under said water. It's been two movies now and I still don't think I buy her romance with Supes. They don't have bad chemistry together but for me it doesn't really click.

-It's not a too dark or "not fun like Marvel" issue (although yes everything is either at night or in a perpetual state of overcast). It's a heart issue. You can have a serious genre movie without quippyness that still has soul. This doesn't. It's a bloated 2.5Hr trailer that doesn't make me care about anything in it.

Pros:
-BATFLECK.Full disclosure I'm a massive Affleck fan so I've had no doubts for the last three years that he was gonna surprise alot of people and he did not disappoint. Batfleck is a beast. Warehouse takedown was awesome. Jeremy Irons is a fantastic Alfred and the Robin suit Easter egg makes me believe that if Leto's Joker is any good, a solo Batman movie could be very very special.

-Wonder Woman was handled very well by Snyder. Gadot held her own. WW's intro was great, she was beautiful, kicks ass, was feminine and from what I could tell wasn't sexualized in a cheesy pubescent way.

-The first half raised some decently interesting political and religious issues and the first 20 min recapping the MOS Zod fight from a civilian ground zero POV was brilliant. The Finale fight while bombastic had some pretty amazing action sets, shots and visuals.

-Hans Zimmer and Junkie XL did some great work on the score. Fantastic orchestral operatic stuff.

-I liked that Snyder stayed consistent with their power levels. Basically when Doomsday shows up, Batman helps where he can but stays out of the way. Reminded me of JLU cartoons when Batman is falling out of a plane and goes I could use some air support...cause I can't fly...like at all.

Misc:
-Batman using a gun in the Knightmare was odd and Batman branding people and straight up killing people in and outside of the dream did not sit well with me but in this movie universe I think I can live with it. Alfred's the fever speech I believe is a direct explanation of this, of this Batman being traumatized by a Robin's death and has turned cold and is less inclined to go out of his way to not kill a criminal.

-Conflicted about the Darkseid foreshadowing and the Flash's time travel warning as it didn't seem to fit but I'm excited about the possibilities it could lead to. Then again, this might be an ASM2 Sinister Six thread we never get to pull.

I just got back from seeing it. I thought it was good, but then, based on everything I have read on the other BvS thread from TexAgers, I went in with managed expectations - take that former A&M AD who's name I cannot recall.

I had allowed myself to get caught up with my own anticipation for this movie. When I was a kid I did not spend much time reading comic books. But I always liked the Superman and Batman characters, so this movie was always going to be a natural draw for me. Then I read an interview with Zachary Snyder where he claimed he made the movie that he wanted to see. That brought back memories of director David Fincher, who stated that he made Alien 3 for he and his friends, not for the people who were fans of Alien/Aliens. I hated Alien 3, so that one quote helped me come down from my anticipatory high and manage my expectations.

What I liked:

1. Ben Affleck and Jeremy Irons. This was the best on-screen Bruce Wayne-Alfred Pennyworth that we have seen (and for me that is saying something as I thought that Bale/Caine from the Dark Knight trilogy would never be topped. Affleck's Batman was more mature than ever before, and was one who has seen a lot. He was the menace that one fears in the dark. And I am enjoying that Affleck did so well despite all the goobers out there who just knew that he was going to suck roughly 20 seconds after his casting was revealed.

2. Gal Gadot. She is attractive to look at, and her character was just mysterious enough to keep my attention. When she finally shows up as Wonder Woman, I had a big grin on my face. I liked the muted colors on her costume rather than the bright colors that we have historically seen.

3. The music. Another good score from Hans Zimmer.

4. The death of Superman. Like I said previously, I have not read a lot of comic books, but I believe I recall correctly that Doomsday did kill Superman in the comics. I thought it was a good touch to actually kill Superman in the movie.

5. Batman versus Superman. This was a great cinematic fight. Of course Batman could not defeat Superman without kryptonite, but the fact is Batman kicked Superman's butt.

What I didn't like:

1. At the end of Man of Steel, I had the impression that Lois Lane did not know Clark Kent's secret identity. Apparently that was an incorrect impression, as we find Clark showing up at her apartment with a bucket of roses and hopping in to the bath tub with her. Not that I have a problem with that or anything but it did not mesh with what I expected out of these characters.

2. Jesse Eisenberg. He had some good lines as Lex Luthor, and he did display a decent part of the Luthor character, a highly intelligent man filled with ambition. He was too young, I thought, for the role. He was also not terribly intimidating even with all the intelligence he displayed.

3. The movie was not well lit. I never saw a lot of detail on either the Batmobile or the Batwing. It was difficult to track some of what was going on during both the Batman/Superman rumble or the fight between Batman/Superman/Wonder Woman and Doomsday.

4. Doomsday. I don't know what he looked like in the comics but what we saw on screen looked like, well, like Christopher Lee as Sauroman (sp?) would be coming along shortly. Looked too much like an Orc.

5. When Bruce Wayne saves the little girl near the beginning and he asks where her mother is, she looks up at the destroyed skyscraper. Anyone ever been in a major metropolitan area on a work day and seen a little girl wandering around without her parent(s)?

6. Martha - seemed a bit weak a reason for Batman to not impale Superman with the kryptonite spear.

All in all, I will give it a B. It is not a great movie. With these characters, it should have been a grand slam. I thought it was acceptable how they inserted footage of the Flash and Aquaman into this movie. I loved seeing many of the characters I was aware of interacting when they came from separate character lines - Bruce Wayne chatting with Lex Luthor or Lois Lane pleading with Batman not to kill Superman. The story was far too meandering - part political, part fantasy, part thriller ... Cut some of that and it may come out more favorably.

I hope this results in two things - WB cans Zachary Snyder, who seems capable of making decent but not great movies, and that this does well enough that WB does not cancel its DC plans going forward.

If I had to describe the movie in one word, it would be "disjointed".

I think it could have been incredible with better editing.

And I should say, I owe BA an apology. He absolutely nailed Batman in a way I wish Bale had. I take back everything I said about him. If DC gets its head out of its ass, they will give us a stand alone Batman movie. Any gripes I have with Batman killing people in this movie are aimed at Snyder.

Lois learned Clark's identity about 1/4th of the way into MoS.

Took my 12 year old daughter this afternoon. I enjoyed feeling the tension in the theater of all the parents with younger children at the nude Amy Adams in the bathtub scene. I felt like this was definetely not a children's movie and it was PG-13 so they should know better. Movie was ok, no great. Hated Eisenberg.

I liked it but it was too dark and Batman was way too angry I thought. I realize he's supposed to be jaded in this film but that was a bit too angry. I did really like Batman after he and Superman became friends. Not a big fan of the way Jessie Eisenberg played Lex Luthor. He's Lex Luthor, not the Joker or the Trickster. Wonder Woman was awesome. Superman was cool but I really hated that they killed him. I know it's in the comics with Doomsday but they better freaking bring him back because everyone these days wants darker and darker "hero movies" and they seem to forget that these are our heroes and it's actually ok to have super good guys with minimal or no flaws. It was a good movie and I mostly enjoyed it but it did kind of seem to not quite know what to do with itself.

I do not know.

He is directing an upcoming episode of The Flash, and he occasionally writes comics for DC.

I expect him to be critical, but hot harsh. So do not get your hopes up too high.

Pretty sure he's also real close friends with Ben Affleck, so he might not bash the film out of respect to his friend.

Or he might torch it and call for Affleck to get his own batman movies.

I was disappointed they didn't use more of the main superman theme from man of steel. Mainly just used the piano theme. I liked the music overall, not really a fan of the Lex Luthor theme though

It was pretty meh.

But I really enjoyed the preview for the Lego Batman movie next year, it actually might more money than b v s.

Honestly, had batman and supes just joined forces to go take care of Lex, I wouldn't have mind that ending. Introducing Doomsday in the last 15 minutes was pretty dumb.

I don't get the awful reviews. It ran too long and there were some flaws, but all in all I really liked it. Affleck and Gadot were great, and the two heroes fighting each other was awesome. CGI for Doomsday was bad, and didn't care for Eisenberg as Luthor, but I thought it was good. Better than a lot of the movies critics adore.
