JP 3 is one of the worst movies ever. To say that it is better than any movie would be wrong 99.9999999% of the time. The fact that someone owns a dvd of JP 3 cost me $50, as I lost a bet that they would even waste time or money creating dvd's that would never be bought.

I feel like JP3 > Lost World
I might have thought that till another viewing. Watch them again, Lost World is at least pretty watchable with Malcolm along with Vince Vaughn, Pete Postlewaite (miss that guy) and the whole invading hunters idea, T-Rex terrorizing San Diego, etc. It's not a great film, but it has some fun moments.

I turned JPIII off halfway through because I'd quit paying attention, it's just kinda boring.

You were criticized for spamming more than anything.

Haven't seen LW or JP3 in a long time, but I remember wondering how JP3 could be so bad. JW can't hold a candle to JP3 in terms of horrible acting, horrible plot and overall horrible-ness.

Jurassic World had plenty of flaws but it's infinitely more entertaining than 2 and 3

For the most part I was enjoying the movie but the end pretty much ruined it for me. I think I literally laughed out loud when the lone raptor was "surprisingly" still alive and charged down the street to get back into the fight. The movie required a certain suspension of disbelief, I get that, but I thought the "oh the raptors are bad now, oh JK they're good again" was just really lazy. They made the point that the raptors were volatile and when they turned on Pratt and the trainers I was fine with it but to all of a sudden have them turn back on the I-Rex when not even 4 hours ago the humans were an all you can eat buffet was just dumb.

At the end of the move I realized the only people I ended up caring about in the movie were Pratt's and Jake Johnson's characters and any dino's not named I-Rex. I found the death of the innocent dino's the I-Rex killed more sad than any of the humans, and that would have likely included the boys and their aunt.

No, I got criticized for "trolling" by multiple people and basically for hating the movie. Either way, to each his own, like what you like, dislike what you dislike, but here's to letting everyone like or dislike whatever they like or dislike without being attacked for it.

One thing that I thought was weird, and this wasn't why I hated it or anything, but they had a weird timeline issue where it went from broad daylight to complete darkness of night with no passage of time. Just, one scene, light, and then next scene, which I was under the impression was just a few minutes later in the timeline of the story, BOOM, it's totally dark. Made me wonder if there were some deleted scenes that were going to fit between those. I consider it more of a continuity error than anything, and those don't bother me, but it did stick out to me enough to notice right away.

lol I did the same thing! I literally face palmed. Military raptors aside, I really hated how non-threatening they made them seem. Like, I had nightmares about Raptors after I watched JP.

I immediately heard the Undertaker's music in my head and turned to my brother and said, "GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY, HE'S ALIVE".

$24m Tuesday. For reference, TDK did $20m, Avengers 1 and 2 did $17m and $13m, and Avatar did $16m.

Largest 5-day opening by $14m, ahead of Avengers.

This thing is a juggernaut. Starting to think Star Wars may have its work cut out if it's gonna top this one.

It is quite impressive, numbers wise...but I can't imagine Star Wars not topping this. The very fact that Jurassic World was at best, an 'ok' movie definitely leaves the door open for JJ Abrams and the Skywalker clan.

The amazing thing with JW is that the demographics are spllit down the middle male and female. Chris's Pratt is starring who draws in both the guys and gals.

The main focus of the new trilogy is a bunch of unknowns and is going to skew more male demographically I imagine. I think Star Wars does have its work cut out for it.

Does someone have the box office numbers for phantom menace and the other prequels?

Yep, that's exactly what I was thinking as well. JW has the female demographic, Star Wars not so much.

Phantom Menace did $474 million in the US. Adjusted for inflation, that is $733 million.

I don't know if Force Awakens will do $700m+, but I do think $600m is within the realm of possibility. If Avengers can do it I see no reason Star Wars can't do it.

The thing about JW is its opening weekend is (and first week, by the looks of it) are absolutely insane. I think SW wins in overall gross but I don't know if it can beat JW in the first week. We'll see.

I know nerds everywhere are pretty excited for Star Wars, but do regular people really care?

I think Star Wars will do fine, but I don't think it'll be nearly as strong as the internet is making it out to be. It's really heavy on nostalgia, I'm not sure average movie goers are really going to care that much.

^This. Other than little kids, I don't see JW having much re-watch appeal.

Done right, Star Wars could definitely take JW down.

"Regular people?" What does that even mean in this context? People who haven't seen Star Wars? Because that's a minority of movie goers of sufficient age.

It's very high on nostalgia, but what do you think is driving the JW numbers if not nostalgia?

The average movie goer cares about Star Wars, just like they've cared every time a star wars film was released.

Late to respond. What made the first JP so good, besides being young, was insane it was to visually see the dinosaurs/hear T-Rex stomping and yelling.

I've said this before and I'll say it again... if Abrams is able to do for Star Wars what he did for that first Star Trek movie - if the movie is even halfway fun/decent - The Force Awakens will be the highest grossing movie of all time. No question. Someone mentored this earlier, but JW's target audience is my generation and the next. I'm 34, was 12 with Jurassic Park came out, and it was essentially my generation's Star Wars. But Star Wars has an entire other generation it'll be catering to in addition to my generation and the next. And women will show up to this thing, no doubt. It's Star Wars. It doesn't need a Pratt-like hunk to get them in theaters.

Star Wars is not going to get a 50/50 split on gender demographics.

It's going to be damn close. Yes, it's fanboy fantasy/sci-fi, but more than that, it's FAMILY entertainment. Same as Jurassic World.

I'm going on the record as disagreeing with you here. I think it underperforms JW, and bc of this fact. And I think that extra generation you are talking about is too old to deal with crowds on opening weekend. Overall, SW will probably best JW (unless this pace continues). But out of the gate, I think it falls short.

I disagree. I took it that for a short time the raptors decided to follow the other dinosaur because she had raptor in her and they identified with her almost as a mother figure and she with them. When the **** hit the fan and the t-rex joined in, the allegiance switched back to Pratt for their loyalty to him and protection of him.

I didn't think it was that odd, actually.

It matters because I was criticized and accused of trolling for having that opinion. Other people having the same opinion shows that maybe my opinion was reasonable after all. No it doesn't matter, but I care. I care about dumb things.
