Sequel script already being written.

quote:
Colin and Steven had a meeting with Donna Langley and the goal is for Colin to have a very rough script by August. Colin isn't directing the sequel but he will be very involved just like Spielberg. And if Spielberg doesn't like the script, the studio won't set a date yet. In other words, this won't be like the Furious films. We'll be getting a sequel and it's all happening quickly but the camera won't start rolling until both Donna and Spielberg are happy.

This thread never stops
Exciting to see them already start to write a new one. I'm guessing another 3-4 years until it comes out?

In Guardians of the Galaxy, there is a scene in the prison where Draxx is about to slit the throat of Gamora, Chris Pratt's character walks in on him and stops. The pose he strikes is the same one that's mocked in all the images of holding the velociraptors at bay....

I finally saw it and felt meh about it. Fun action but meh CGI and laughable character development.

Any Dino nerds able to name the various flying dinosaurs? It seemed that some had more squared off jaws like ground based carnivores than the needle - nosed , pointy beaks I am used to seeing on flying dinosaurs (very limited knowledge personally though)

Will it pass Titanic domestically? I remember a time when it seemed like nothing would ever pass Titanic (and maybe nothing ever will after adjusting for inflation).

Gone With the Wind is #1 adjusting inflation.

I don't believe there were any flying dinosaurs.

Right, other movies are ahead of Titanic, but no movie has passed Titanic since it was released.

According to Wikipedia, Titanic is 4th behind Gone With the Wind, Avatar and Star Wars.

Well, Pterosaurs weren't Dinosaurs, but birds are...

Well, that might require us to take this thread into evolution of flight theories direction. Probably not a worthwhile discussion for entertainment. Perhaps politics is a better place, so that we can be shouted down for believing in dinosaurs.

Seems unlikely. If I could find a list of box office numbers just for Texas I wouldn't even have to care about those damn yankees.

Really liked this movie, but every record it breaks should have an asterisk next to it, that reads

*until Star Wars: The Force Awakens breaks this record in 5 months.

Right?

It's amazing that it's done as well as it has, but I have to think Star Wars is going to be the biggest movie of the year.

Looking at the domestic top 10, adjusted for inflation, it's actually gonna be pretty tough for Force Awakens to break that list. Take a look.

1
Gone with the Wind
$1,640,602,400

2
Star Wars
$1,446,331,100

3
The Sound of Music
$1,156,412,900

4
E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial
$1,151,857,200

5
Titanic
$1,100,052,700

6
The Ten Commandments
$1,063,720,000

7
Jaws
$1,040,000,000

8
Doctor Zhivago
$1,007,979,900

9
The Exorcist
$898,065,200

10
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
$885,080,000

Empire Strikes Back is at #12 with 797m; Avatar 789m; TPM 733m; Jurassic World is currently at #26 with 615m, behind movies like Fantasia, Grease, and Mary Poppins.

I think what it comes down to is that more people used to go to the movies in the past than they do now. Sure, movies are constantly breaking records nowadays with inflation and 3D prices, but when looking strictly at tickets sold, the top 10 is a hell of a tough list to make. The last movie to do it was Titanic.

If Force Awakens is a giant hit on the level of say, a Phantom Menace or Avatar, it could maybe break 800m and finish at #11-12. But I honestly don't see it making the top 10. Even 800m could be reaching.

So Many more movies are being made today. People don't see movies multiple times like in the past because there are other movies to see and more ways to seek out entertainment. In 1939, there wasn't much to do other than go see Gone With the Wind for the 10th time.

I think this has a lot to do with it. Also the adjustment for inflation isn't a perfect science, it's more like an educated guess. And most of the numbers are a bit too high if you look at the average wage in say 1939 compared to the average movie ticket price.
