post-game notes:
Finished watching the replay vs Ark
- 1st set felt terrible and I was worried we were going to drop another 3-0 game with what I was seeing. I didn't keep precise count but at one point, we had 5 service errors, 3 net violations and 2 serve receive shanks. Almost zero blocks. The set wasn't as close as the point total would indicate.
- Manning was subbed in for Lednicky as a serving specialist but missed both opportunities. She later served well though. She has done a nice job when asked to help run a 6-2. The change often gives A&M a momentum boost at times.
- Lopuyo isn't going to light up the scoreboard but makes some timely plays and is no longer a liability this year. Morrison has done a great job with developing her. Does it seem like hitters avoid hitting at her when she is in? Didn't realize she had a solid 4 blocks on the night.
- Out of system sets were not good early in the game. Many of the bump sets were too tight.
- Underwood got better as the game progressed. She had some awesome digs that were on target as well.
- When this team is on, they are on and look like a top 25 team. But they don't have consistency. Hellmuth could be the key to help balance the attack and she was unstoppable in the final 2 sets. She also got a couple of backrow kills.
- Waak does an excellent job with all of those tight passes to stay out of the net. Not sure how she does it but she excels at it.
- Cos-Okpalla is also a force when her attitude is in the right place. I'm worried that when she is down, she is bringing others down with her. Time for her to step up and lead even when her bread and butter blocking is off.
- Lednicky hit .538 on the night! I didn't realize that until now. She was flat out fantastic.
