You're contradicting yourself. If we're not good enough to be in the top half of the conference, we definitely don't need to be playing a tougher schedule.
Again, this is not a championship program right now. He's playing the long game. What do you think it does to the team & to recruiting if we get beat up in nonconference and then go on and get beat up in conference? What good does it do is to play elite teams that we don't have a chance to beat? We will get a few shots in conference @ teams like that. If we are good enough to be better than a bubble team, then our schedule isn't going to get in the way of that. It's strong enough.
The goal right now is simply to make the NCAA tournament. This nonconference schedule plus our conference schedule puts us in good position to do that.
