8-1 Florida to close out and win set 2
I hope this is a short slump and not a repeat of how we ended sec play last season
caught only maybe half the game. Haven't looked at stats at all. Looks like zero defense (poor blocking and digging)? Middles were getting stuffed and also not getting blocks themselves. Serve receive looked like it had some issues as well.
Mini slump has to end soon. We started off soooo darn well last season and then just fell apart.taylorswift13_ said:

Great effort in a competitive loss to a better, ranked team. Service errors were very damaging. Several players short from being a top tier team. Huge improvement over prior years!

Not really. 2 conference losses with poor play. Disappointing.

Yeah that's the only thing I don't get. We say we want to serve tough but we aren't. Serve tough? Check out the last point of the game. That's a tough serve.

my point exactly! We serve so softly, like a high school team! And the fact that we still get service errors (and as many service errors) is insane! If you we were ripping the ball off I'd understand, but we just gently send it over… no one in our starting rotation intimidates anyone at the service lineflintdragon said:B$Weigem said:

If Morrison wants to insist on a strong serving team, then he needs to recruit to it. Because that team isn't on campus.
I Watched the first two sets. What I don't understand about our serving is that the players have big run ups to the back line toss the ball up and it looks like a slow pitch softball going over the net. The ball is then handled easily and spiked down our players throats. The serves that have some authority on them a great majority of the time go into the net.
I agree. If they are going to serve so soft

I brought up G. Rollie a couple of weeks ago. Decided to find additional photos, including the inside. Found some great ones!
Some great color photos! Memories for a lot of us, "wow, look how ancient and small" for younger Ags!
Most photos are of G. Rollie White but also of the Natatorium, the DeWare Field House, Kyle Field from various times, shots of the campus around Kyle from the air, etc. A lot of photos of it being torn down to make way for the Kyle expansion. Note the palm trees - not very common in central Texas!
Ticket pull for football games were at the G. Rollie ticket windows in the front, across from the MSC. Photos also show it set up for concerts. Elvis performed there in the 1950's !!

I initially read this:
"The 2017 season saw a record 13,168 fans coming to the Gillom Athletics Performance Center, setting a single-season attendance record."
And thought no way they can fit that many in there. Then realized that was the total season attendance.
And we had 9000+ for the tu game this month.

tks for the pics. not included was any pics of the old married student housing (D5A for me). Graduation was in G Rollie, and swimming in Cain so I could take golf and VB for Phys Ed.
Service errors? I worked a run of the mill 5A match Friday between 2 also-rans whose service % might have been higher....but the Ags look SO much better than in recent memory. They will be just fine under Morrison.

I had several friends who lived in the old married student housing area. Small houses and no AC but the rent was super cheap! Spent a lot of time during summers visiting them, sweating like crazy. But we were used to it. A lot of the old dorms also had no AC but they were still quite a bit more expensive than my friends paid. I think all of those old dorms were torn down quite a few years ago. Probably none left without AC.
I agree - I think the team will work out. Only second season under Jamie and he has had a LOT of success with national volleyball so he DOES know what he is doing.
