XC 1st Meet Preview

Host: Oklahoma State
Meet: Cowboy Preview
Time: 8am (men), 8:30 (women)
Distance: 5k, 3k
Live Results: https://live.athletic.net/meets/17861
Other Teams: Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Arkansas

A loaded on the field for our Aggies. However this meet should not hold a lot of merit since the distances are half of what they will run at regionals.

Our women's team will be locked and loaded as they return a strong nucleus lead by Julia Abell (formerly Julia Black) and Abbey Santoro. These 5th year seniors will be ready to leave their mark and hopefully lead a historic cross country season for the Aggies. Let's hope they can take their running up a level. Also expected to lead the team is Grace Plain. Plain had a phenomenal track season and was looking like our top distance runner. Let's see if she can translate it to the cross courses. Also key to our success this season is the development and hopeful improvement of now sophomores Gemma Goddard and Maddie Livingston. Both stepped up as true freshman and I hope to see them excel this year. Our 4 and 5 scorers will be important to take down Texas, ACU, and Rice. Other returning contributors are Katelyn Buckley, Emma Saia, Nicole Chastain, and Emma Ellis, Mary Grace Rodriguez, and Deirdre Nelson, and UCLA transfer Siena Palicke. If she can stay healthy she can factor into the lineup! Arkansas and Oklahoma State are loaded and will push our ladies early this season!

The men will need some fellas to step up to have a historic season. Unlike the women who have a wide open shot for 2nd in the region. The men will need to work to take down Texas or Arkansas. Leading our men is Eric Casarez. Eric Casarez was looking like an All American at the beginning of the season then had a rough last meet, however he looked like a new man during track season collecting many PR's. Expect an All American season from our leader. Other key contributors who have the fastest 5k Pr's are Chandon Chhikara (transfer) and Francisco Romano (transfer)! After stellar track seasons, I expect Gavin Hoffpauir and Cooper Cawthra to step up and make their mark on the 5! It hurts losing Brady Grant, but other contributors who will fight to crack the scoring 5 could be Teddy Radtke, Jonathan Chung, Siddharth Jayaraman, Joseph Benn, Juan Arcila, and Kyle Johnson. The field will be tough tomorrow with Okie State ranked 2, Tulsa ranked 6th, and Arkansas ranked 12th. Should be a huge test for our men! But can't wait to see how they stack up against a high quality field and against each other!

I remember our top 5 being Casarez, Chandon Chhikara, Victor Zuniga, Tristan Galvan, and Teddy Radtke, with Cooper Cawthra and Gavin Hoffpauir right behind! But then again the results may be inaccurate if they took them down

Wow! So if the results are accurate Grace Plain came in 2nd taking down some high quality runners from Arkansas and Okie State! Abbey Santoro came in 4th! Julia Abell 9th! A strong performance by our 3 leaders!! Maddie Livingston 18th! A good run but we expect her to be up there with the older girls however a longe race is better for her than a 3k! And Mary Grace Rodriguez placing 25th! With Katelyn Buckley 28th and Siena Palicke 32nd rounding out our top 7! I know Gemma Goddard is coming off an injury from track but I hope she's okay Oklahoma State didn't run a few of their top girls, but still cool to come in 2nd not far behind Arkansas!

What a race from Grace to get 2nd place! Way to set the pace, she makes a strong case to be the runner we all embrace.

Eric Casarez with a nice PR to place 2nd for the Aggies! Chandon Chhikara who hasn't ran in xc race since 2018 after running at Pepperdine for a year than transferring to tu but not running with the team placed 9th! Victor Zuniga runs a 40 second PR to place 14th. Tristan Galvan in his first official xc race places 15th. And rounding out the top 5, Teddy Radtke places 16th . Right behind them were Cooper Cawthra and Gavin Hoffpauir. Will update as results become available but this is what I partly remember!

If Gemma Goddard can't produce like she did last year, we're gonna really need a 5th to step up on the girls side! Whether that's Katelyn Buckley, Mary Grace Rodriguez, or even a freshman such as Carson Parker, Kennedy Fontenot, or Amanda Hogan.

Track and Field News reports that former All-American and Ag track ('14-'15) athlete Shavez Hart was shot and killed outside a Bahamas nightclub. Hart was a teammate of Deon Lendore who died earlier this year. VERY TRAGIC!!

Speed and Texas A&M.

Speed-town USA. That's what it should be known as. The fastest man in the world and the fastest man in college football have both ran ablaze the same track, gone through the same coaching regime under Pat Henry. No coincidence, just a method.

Another one of Duane Ross athletes while at NC A&T suspended for drug use

Track & Field Gazette
@Track_Gazette
The AIU has provisionally suspended Grace Nwokocha for the use of prohibited substances - Ostarine & Ligandrol!

She has PBs of 10.97s and 22.44s over 100m and 200m and is a Commonwealth Gold medallist in the 4x100m where she anchored the team to an African Record.
