i purposely stayed away from this forum after i saw tu won...again. i strongly believe we had the best outdoor team in the nation this year, and i'm disappointed that our team had to play ou indoors. i think at that point it became a 50/50 match, and we were just a few points shy of advancing on a surface we rarely get much time on. to put things into perspective, we will have a very good team next season again, also. i think we need carson to solidify that #1 spot. she's had some good wins, but if she could just stay on the court a bit longer and grind more it will give the entire team a boost. congrats to pielet for getting that monkey off of her back and getting a good win in the elite 8. i'll be honest, that is a match that i had already penciled in for ou when i saw the lineup (shame on me). i was so sorry to see tati lose the last team match she played. she has been so strong for us, and i think she just could not adapt to the indoor air vs the outdoor climate. mcbryde and pielet were so solid all year. i enjoyed watching them slam the door on so many teams. let's not forget how they came back and ensured that we beat florida in the sec tournament. had they lost that match we would have lost to florida 4-2 and may not have been a #7 national seed. they had a rough match on friday night, and, ugh, to lose your last college match like that is hard (i can relate!!). so many positives. it's hard to see a national championship caliber team not reach their ultimate goal, but we are in new air now and the expectations will be so much higher.
having said all of this, i implore all of us - every single supporter PLEASE; contact Ross and his staff and ask for updates on an indoor facility. we are competing on unfair terrain when we don't have the same facilities to train in that some of the other national powers. it will benefit both teams.
secondly, mark weaver deserves a huge raise (and his staff does, too). he is the alum that keeps on giving and i guarantee with the right support he will win more than one national championship.
