It'll be tough. They swept (7-0) #4 Ohio St few weeks back.

I was at the match and we lost to them in 2013. Was the lone SEC loss that year despite winning the title which was a three way tie with Florida and Georgia. Only win over Georgia was in 2017 under Weaver's watch. Hopefully he can get it done again this year. Would be a shame not to win the SEC title with the talent of this team.

I stand corrected. Thank you for the historians out there. Wish I could make this trip myself, but my reservations are to see us beat Arkansas on their turf (again)!

History being made in women's tennis doubles, Tatiana and Jaycee #2 in the country. I'll let Nick fact check me on this, but my belief is that's the highest ranking EVER for the women at any level, team, doubles or singles. Austin's doubles championship obviously supersedes that for the men but for the women, it's history being made. After watching them play this Sunday, this might be one ranking they got right. Down in the score, they just bowed their necks and said, "Not today buckaroo." Then rattled off 4 straight games. Carson is starting to make a statement, up to #27 in the individual rankings. I think Mary got caught in the backwash of other girls making ranked wins that were ranked below her previously and got dropped down a few notches due to the "caliber" of player she was against, even though her last loss was weeks ago. If TaylorSwift reads this, I would hope she (I'm guessing a she) provides some input on a possible scenario: This past week Georgia (ranked #15) drums Ohio State (ranked #4) 7-0, then dismantles Tennessee 4-0. Georgia leap frogs A&M and Auburn BOTH to #7 and Ohio State is static at #4. My question is, IF we pull off the upset and beat Georgia even if it's 4-3 what do you imagine the implication is for next week's rankings? Do we leap over Georgia, or do we only pick up one or two spots? Mindful of the fact that we were previously ranked higher than Georgia after the ITA indoors where they lost to NOW #2 and #15 ranked teams and neither of us have lost since, except for the possible upset above.

Ohio State not being dropped is what's horrible! I think if we were to beat Georgia that would drop them to 3 losses so we should definitely pass them up! I know the bottom of the SEC isn't helping our SOS, but ultimately all the wins will add up and make it easier for a committee or a model to move us up easier! I'd say with a win this week, we should definitely be above Georgia and at least top 8 or top 7! I'm not too familiar with how the ranking system in tennis works exactly, but I say it's flawed!

The team rankings is what I'm baffled about. I know it's more about UTR and the make up that way.

It just doesn't add up on how Auburn is ahead of us with a schedule that doesn't compare as well. The piece I think that hurts us is playing the weak non conference. We played too many gimme wins like PVA&M, Houston, etc. those don't reflect well

At this point in the season there is no "committee" input and no subjective opinion involved in the rankings. It's all based on a publicly available formula, so at any given time you can know exactly what any team will be ranked, given that you have up-to-the-minute results and all of the scores submitted to the ITA by each team are accurate.

These guys have operated this website for a few years and it's almost always exactly what the ITA has, unless someone has results input incorrectly. Hope this helps.

edit: the USTA rankings are a different story, and have no bearing on the ITA or the NCAA. UTR has nothing to do with the ITA rankings either, although it is a useful tool for evaluating recruits and handicapping head-to-head matchups.

I just contradicted myself. Lol.

We have better quality wins, but I think they are watered down with the overall quality of our non conference. We were only tested at ITAs, that's about it. Almost lost to a bad TCU team, gave up points to a below average Ole Miss team, etc.

118-21 is the overall dual match scores by my rough math. I can't believe they aren't 139-0. How more dominant can a team be? How dare the girls lose two individual matches to TCU and Ole Miss.

Couldn't tell what happened at the end of the tie-break on the streaming. Did she win 9-7? Looked like a couple of very close calls at the end. Stoiana had about 10 match points before she finally won. 51 degrees in Knoxville.

Whoops, forgot to refresh before posting that last update. Crazy ending. Seeing on Twitter that the UT men's team lost at home on an overrule recently as well
