I think it's mostly because now there is social media. F1 presence in the platforms was almost non existent before 2017. So now that they are on every major platform and have more fans they notice this kind of issues in their comments sections.

They changed strategies due to the lap time. I'm not saying it was a direct correlation but you have to admit that it impacted the way they finished q2

Agreed. Should make for an entertaining start of the race at least. The broadcasters were saying it is similar to Monaco in that it is difficult to overtake. So could be kind of boring and processional after the start.

Yeah they pitted and didn't fit fresh tires and sent Checo back out for a flyer that he still couldn't get out of Q2 with.

And he got his original hot lap back after the stewards corrected it.

Not really sure how much that changes anything, it's not like Redbull typically does out lap, flyer, cool down, out lap flyer without a pit stop.

After this season so far I'm almost hoping Leclerc moves teams sooner than later.

Today makes no sense. Charles goes longer on stint 1 on the mediums, is forced to box on the same or less laps for stint 2 onto hards after Alpine and KMag had all already proven the hards were not competitive. Unreal they didn't try to extend Charles into softs.

Post summer break season is going to be very interesting. Ferrari has faltered and Mercedes has risen to the challenge. I am curious to see how overall points look after today.

Quite a bit of overtaking so that was fun. Max winning even after doing a 360 was pretty impressive. Happy that Hamilton was able to bump Russell down a spot. The Alpines did finally get the hard tires to work so a good points haul for them relative to McLaren. Distance between the top 3 teams and the rest is pretty significant. Surprisingly fun race to watch and hopefully Charles learns from Carlos that it is not a bad idea to overrule the team when it comes to strategy as there was plenty of evidence the hard tires weren't going to a podium compound. The Toto-free broadcasts, which makes F1 so much more enjoyable to watch, is unfortunately over for the time being. At least we have a few weeks before the next Merc stroking from Sky.

Times for the pit stops:

Max: 42.579
Checo: 42.285
Lewis: 43.764
Carlos: 46.276

Ferrari were just terrible once the cars did box. Carlos would have been on the podium without two relatively slow pit stops. Checo and his crew were absolutely amazing today with Max 2nd. Might be the first time this year the Red Bull pit stops were the best on the grid.
