Points for the Saturday sprint? Here comes more off track paper work and meetings to make sure your competitors don't get points due to some minor violations

Really like the navy livery. They needed to get away from that light blue that has been around since Martini was sponsoring. Only thing I would change is to add a little more white in there to get it closer to some of the traditional liveries they have had.

Looking at it closer though I guess they are keeping a little of the light blue and throwing in more red accents than I realized.

When I saw the generic model of the new car last season I thought it looked really dumb, but I've actually enjoyed everything I've seen since the teams have started unveiling liveries.

There's a mock livery on Reddit where the person replaced the red in this with Duracell gold. It's pretty gorgeous.

This came out today and is a pretty cool interview. I've done CFD before, it hurts my brain to think about how much time and effort goes into the full CFD analysis of an F1 car.

Direct radio comms to race director removed

This is the change that will hopefully lead to more consistently in the decision making from that position. No more whiny Horner or Wolff lobbying for favorable decisions in real time over comms.

Sad to see Masi go, I'm not sure he did anything wrong. He got dealt a bad hand, and I think he was politicked out because it played out differently than some wanted.

Maybe the Silverstone incident is the bigger issue.

It's not a matter of opinion that he ignored the rules in lining Max up directly behind Lewis on fresh tires with 1 to go and thereby gifted the race.

He blew it on the biggest stage and I would like to think he would've made the correct decision without two teams yelling in his ear.

I tend to agree with you that lobbying the race director was a huge problem. That definitely played a role and it shouldn't have.

But people forget that Hamilton had two opportunities to pit as well. With his pace, no question he would have regained the lead with softs.

Teams were dealing with the same decision making during the race, and any one change of decision could have changed the outcome.

Didn't Perez hold Hamilton off earlier in the race for more than a lap in a similar tire situation? Seems like Max had an advantage, but Lewis just threw in the towel and let him drive right by. Who doesn't defend the inside line there?

Thank God COTA finally got that extension. Hopefully in a few years we can see F2 or F3 make a trip to the Americas

Literally no team would pit in that situation unless they knew that the race director was going to throw out the rule book at the end of the race.

You just NEVER pit there and give up your advantage.

You maybe right, I am too new at this sport to really know.

But I can't fault Masi for Mercedes's decision making process. Masi gave us an insanely rememberable season, with a new challenger grinding through cramps to beat the unbeatable. I'd give Masi a raise.

Yeah I think there's a pretty big disconnect with new fans on that. Which is completely understandable.

I love, love, love the massive new US interest in the sport.

At minimum it has given us 5 more years at COTA but it sounds like we're probably getting a race in Vegas and Miami to go along with it.
