The FIA releases a video at the same time as the Ferrari launch, outlining its structural changes to race control:

- Masi out as race director
- Remote race control that will support the race director

Sad to see Masi go, I'm not sure he did anything wrong. He got dealt a bad hand, and I think he was politicked out because it played out differently than some wanted.
Maybe the Silverstone incident is the bigger issue.

It's not a matter of opinion that he ignored the rules in lining Max up directly behind Lewis on fresh tires with 1 to go and thereby gifted the race.
He blew it on the biggest stage and I would like to think he would've made the correct decision without two teams yelling in his ear.

But people forget that Hamilton had two opportunities to pit as well. With his pace, no question he would have regained the lead with softs.
Teams were dealing with the same decision making during the race, and any one change of decision could have changed the outcome.

You maybe right, I am too new at this sport to really know.
But I can't fault Masi for Mercedes's decision making process. Masi gave us an insanely rememberable season, with a new challenger grinding through cramps to beat the unbeatable. I'd give Masi a raise.
Michael has applied to the FIA to field a new F1 team starting in 2024. His entry, Andretti Global, has the resources and checks every box. He is awaiting the FIA's determination.
