There was a good green flag stint from around lap 50-75 that I found enjoyable. They just couldn't string together more than 5 green flag laps in a row before that.

Not the best representation of Indycar. They are going to have to make some changes to the track to make it work.

It's really narrow in some spots and they chose a restart point that just bunches all the cars up in a corner. Crashes were going to be inevitable with that many cars going through that corner at the same time.

You could watch the race start. Fast forward to the next restart and see the next incident. Then once they crash again just fast forward to lap 50 and watch it from there.

I watched that video but are we sure that was Grosjean? The driver didn't crash.

It reminded me of some of my worst iRacing experiences.

I've really soured on Lewis lately. Was never a huge fan but after the crash at Silverstone I really don't care for the guy.

I'm not a Lewis fanboy, but I'll admit that he's one of the best natural talents that's ever been in F1, and Silverstone aside, he's generally one of the cleanest on track racers and one of the better overtakers.

Compared to Senna and Schumacher he is a much cleaner racer. Both of them won championships by intentionally crashing into their rivals at the last race of the year, and both of them were DQ'd for crashing into their rivals. Lewis is generally very fair on track.

I do think that he was starting to crack under the pressure at Silverstone which led him to make that very aggressive overtaking attempt that had zero chance of success.

I can see that even with my limited knowledge of historical things in F1. The only thing that really bothers me about Lewis is that he has been in the bast car for so many years that he has become entitled. He was complaining that there has to be some unfair advantage of the RB16B was the faster car. First wings, then engine upgrades. I just shrugged it off at that point. What really put the nail in the coffin for me was him *****ing on track about Alonso being unfair in his defending. He has a fragile ego. And has forgotten how to truly scrap for a win. I can see that he hates to lose, and all the greats have that, but he makes tons of excuses about everyone else's avantage rather than his mistakes.

They all whine. I think it's just magnified for Lewis because he's the one in the spotlight more often than not.

He's always been accused of being arrogant (before he was in the spotlight like he is now). And maybe it's not a fair assessment, but he comes off as extremely entitled now, more so than ever.

It's hard not to give credit to Lewis for being a great driver. Yes, he's been in one of the best cars with Mercedes, but before this team, he was still a great driver and won the championship in 2008.

I think his success is a combination of being a great driver, who has had the benefit of being in a great car for so long. It takes both to have the kind of success he's had.

But it does seem like he might need a bigger helmet these days....

It's definitely up there. The ferrari shark nose 156 and of course the 641 which is/was on display in the New York Museum of Modern Art are both contenders as well.

Who is the lady hosting the show and how tall is she? I know Zack is like 5'6-7" but that door must be short. Is that a British building thing? I would guess she's 6'0" depending on shoes. Maybe it was just a camera angle thing too.

Most guys in racing are sub 6'. Graham Rahal might actually be one of the tallest guys in single seater racing at 6' 3". There's actually really good aerodynamic and weight distribution reasons for that.

Lewis Hamilton, Sebastian Vettel, and Michael Schumacher are 5'9". Fernando Alonso is 5'7". Just for some examples.

Oh I knew they were all short. That woman looks huge though. I guess anyone 6'+ would make someone 5'6" look short. Especially with Zak's round shape.

I saw Justin Wilson in the paddock at the GP of Houston in 2007. He was probably the tallest single-seat driver out there.

In addition to the height, the weights are also very interesting. Here are the Ht./Wt. for this year's lineup:

More proof this world has lost its collective mind.

Did they not just have a relatively (if not fully) 'successful' Olympic games? I mean ultimately if they were going to have a race with no fans I would prefer they move to somewhere in Europe or US anyways but just bizarre.

probably a whole lot easier to cancel one F1 race vs the Olympics.

as another thought, I could see F1 taking a hardline. No spectators, no race. They can take their race somewhere else that will let paying customers in.

Right. I guess an assumption is that this was all Japan's decision.

There could have been expectations from F1 (ie fans or at least a % of fans) that Japan couldn't meet.

Also with no fans maybe its a guaranteed loss of income for Japan so it was the only choice.

Maybe better explanations than I initially gave credit. Just hate it for the fans in areas where the races occur....

The Le Mans 24 Hours App is available for download now and will provide not only the live TV and commentary for every Le Mans track session after FP1 tomorrow, but also a number of other features and services including live timing, to enhance your viewing pleasure.

Fox Sports will have it as well. I think in the past they've done like the last 4 or 6 hours. I forget.

Some articles thinking that F1 might go to Indy to replace the Japan race. https://www.planetf1.com/news/indianapolis-contender-replace-japan/

After watching how the track held up last week for Indy car and Nascar I feel like some changes might need to be done if they use the same course.

I don't think there would be an issue with F1. The only issue with the curb came when the heavy stock cars started pounding over it. Plus there were too many cars on track for everyone to squeeze in single-file through the chicane like they needed to. Didn't help with everyone fighting for position in the restarts late in the race. IndyCar handled it just fine, I wouldn't expect anything different from F1.

Although maybe Hamilton would find a way to box out Max and send him over it and destroy his car
