Ehh not really sure what they're supposed to do if every team decides to run 30-40 laps on hards.

Every race didn't used to be a one stopper, hell Williams was planning to run 50 laps at one point with Russel today.

Pirelli expected 36-40 laps for the hards.

I think Verstappen had 33 laps on his tires, Stroll just over 30 laps as well.

Stroll was on lap 30. Not sure if they were new or had a few laps on them to start.

Max would've been 30-35 laps. Don't remember when he pitted.

More than anything I guess, I don't know what Pirelli is expected to do and they're pretty much going to be wrong either way in the FIAs eyes.

A few seasons ago the FIA and all the teams were mad the tires were degrading too quickly because they wanted max performance the whole stint so Pirelli reworked the tires which now perform better the entire stint but now we have issues like this and Silverstone 2020.


For this race in particular Pirelli went a step softer than the 19 gran prix here because that race teams only used soft and medium with the harder compounds in the past. So what did everyone do this race? The soft which is softer than the years prior and hards which are equal to the medium before for a one stop still.

My uneducated opinions is to tend to agree it's a bad look. Not necessarily that they failed, but that the same tire failed for both cars and within the given lap guidelines.

He had a blowout on the final lap but didn't lose control of the car the way Stroll and Max did today. He was far enough ahead where he could hobble to the finish on the remaining tires.
