Per Lec they were told no track limits and then Hamilton was told next time would be a penalty. Sounds like unclear instructions still to me.

Masi stated that there would be no monitoring unless alerted. Red Bull complained and that's when limits were to be enforced.
If you think I'm biased that's fine. I've been watching F1 long enough to know they're inconsistent and will screw people over from time to time. I was just curious if other clearly terrible decisions created such reactions.

The merc faithful on the F1 subreddit was convinced Lec was the most dangerous driver ever to grace F1 and wanted to kill Lewis during the Monza incident you mentioned, so I'd go with yes
My first season following along was last year over the summer, but I forgot just how well produced the entire race broadcast is.
Everything from the TV presentation, commentators, and even the app are excellent IMO. Also no commercials is great.

The improved FPS is SHARP too.
Great driving by Perez and the midfield was really competitive this race. Im really looking forward to this season.

Saw Sunday's race was the highest rated 1st race ever for Sky Sports. Guessing that's the Netflix effect, and the fact the first race is usually at a weird time due to it being in Australia. Exciting regardless.
I think ratings will be up in general this season because people feel like there will be an actual driver's points competition between Hamilton and Verstappen (and maybe even Bottas). If they think they will get more actual competitive races like Bahrain, they will tune in.
I do still think Red Bull has some work to do to be competitive in constructor's championship. Perez was a massive addition for them, but he will have to continue to be able to finish high consistently and take some podium spots from Bottas.

For me, the Australian circuit creates a boring race so I don't usually watch.... That one and Barcelona bore the hell outta me for some reason. Plus the season usually sneaks up on me and I don't realize it's started until I start seeing the race results from Australia.

They reprofiled the chicane at turns 9 & 10 for the Australian race to try and improve overtaking. I don't know if it will make a difference since turns 11 & 12 are high speed. I'm not sure if a following car can stay close enough through those turns to make a pass up to turn 13.TulaneAg said:

Finally watched the race. Glad to see some excitement at the end of a race. I've thought for a long time that they need to decide what to do about track limits and stick to it. They've been too wishy-washy for a long time. put some sausage curbs out there or something to penalize a driver for going off track.

I think the FIA was against gravel a few years ago because it would get on the track if someone went wide causing problems for other drivers. Personally I think there should be a set number of times going wide before a time penalty.

Qualifying is now happening an hour earlier than originally scheduled to not conflict with Prince Philip's funeral. The race is unaffected.

Verstappen out of FP2 with undetermined damage to car. Big blow to Red Bull as they lose important practice time for an anticipated strong weekend.

He was really struggling through the first sector in both laps for Q3.
Excited about the race tomorrow! With RB starting 2 and 3 I think they have a legit chance to win. I'd be happy if either won. But I won't lie, I'm rooting for Checo! Everyone acts like he's great, but at the same time Verstappen is clearly better. Verstappen v Hamilton is all anyone wants to talk about. Watch Checo cruise to the win, and Hamilton and Verstappen fight for 2nd. That would be entertaining!
They are on different strategy's tomorrow so that is going to be fun to watch, finally Red Bull gets to put the screws to merc in the pits and not the other way around
I hope RB has a great pit strategy in place for both drivers. It seems like that's a weakness of theirs and they end up having to react to Merc and it ends up costing them. It will be interesting to see how they handle Checo having to start with the soft tires with teams probably trying for a 1 stop race.
It has been but the last few years they have been on the back foot in a big way strategy wise because there second driver couldn't quail up front.
