LSU because I want to knock them out of this tournament. They came hard at us last year when they didn't need to, throwing their top two starters at us in a single game. Show no mercy.

Meh. They won the national championship last year, hard to say they should have done anything differently.

I agree though, do the same to them this year if you get the chance

I'm moving a little slow this morning. I guess I'm not in postseason shape yet.

Forecast has improved for Hoover. Only a 20% chance of rain during the afternoon today. Increases to 50% this evening, so the last two games might have issues.

EDIT - Today looks to be the best day (weather-wise) left in the tournament. Going to get difficult starting tomorrow and continuing through Memorial Day (i.e. past the end of the tournament).

LSU because a win today by the Tigers would give us three more Quad 1 wins.

Would it? I thought they had to win 3 to get to quad 1?. Also, if winning today makes them quad 1, would us beating them again the next day push them back down to quad 2?

If I were Mizzou, I'd have saved the black unis for a hopeful night game and gone with the road grays today.

It's a lot like TD Ameritrade. Very wind dependent. When it's hot and a little windy it'll launch.

Our night cap looks to be an entertaining matchup. The land of 3.2% beer plays the land of 24 hour liquor.

I'm way behind on this, but just for your Missouruh edification... There's no more 3.2 states left. Minnesota, Kansas, Utah, Oklahoma... They've all fallen.

That was a bad miss by the ump. Glad to see ABS get it right

Mizzou's catcher was 100% on his challenges yesterday.

State's catcher headed that way today.

They need to tweak the ABS zone just a bit, but I LOVE IT so far! Amazing.

It's 19 inches wide, centered front to back, 58% of batters height at top, 23% of height at bottom. Which part should they adjust?
First of all, why are we limited to a 2-D plane mid-plate? Use the full plate, or at least 2 checks, front and mid.

The 19" width is 100% a-ok. If you want to shrink the top/bottom a little, whatever, but I think it's fine as is. The issue is the top of the actual strike zone has rarely been called in MLB or college so there's a perception problem that a high strike isn't a strike. The NCAA language is from the hollow below the knees to the mid-point between the top of the pants and the shoulder. That's way up there. Well above what has traditionally been called.

Has to be overturned, right? Safe at 2nd on the review?

Not great mechanics by the fielder

Correct. Caught stealing overturned. If SS put the tag on the bag he's out.

The answer is that the 2D plane at mid-plate produced a similar rate of strikes and balls during their validation with players while the other more complex variants upped the strike count more than they wanted.

I think the way it works is the batter knows where it is being checked so they only have to keep that one plane in mind. I'll try to find the article again if I have time.

I'd love to see it, thanks. With the breaking stuff these guys have, a ball 0.1" low mid-plate is a strike 95% of the time at the front of the plate.

I guess I didn't understand "upped the strike counts more than they want." A strike is a strike (and a ball a ball) no matter what they "want."
