Yes, but Texas is still paying them a lot.

Good for them that their recruits panned out but Texas has no problem paying big money for transfers in their other sports. And they will do it in softball as well. Your mercenaries comment is just wrong and being done probably bc of your jealousy of Techs success.

Are you calling all the transfers A&M gets in all our sports mercenaries as well?

Texas is rewarding their players with NIL money for performance which is to be commended. As for jealousy of Tech, that's laughable. They have been on the softball map for two years because of the buying of players.

Yeah I'm going to call BS on that. I don't think Texas even has the best roster, much less highest paid. I could see one of the richest programs, but not highest player payroll. That has to go to Tech where they poached multiple stars off big time p4 clubs.

But no one knows apart from Canady what the girls are paid, so you get a bunch of speculation and tweets as sources.

Maloney

Gutierrez
Goode came as a sophomore and Altmeyer a grad transfer.

Take out Kavan and that was the starting lineup yesterday.

They have to replace Atwood. Maloney and Goode in the field.

They have Star pitchers waiting in the wings to replace Gutierrez.

They will be in the mix again next year without a doubt.

Last but certainly not least, Mike White is a top 2 coach and recruiter in the entire Sport. Gasso at OU is probably 1.

And I'm afraid that Trish Ford is only a little bit better of a coach than Jo Evans. When your successor at ASU comes to your home regional and beats your butt twice, it doesn't bode well for the future of your program.

I said many posts ago, great for Texas that their recruits panned out.

I think I have been pretty clear, it is that Texas is paying their players plenty of money as well. And you agreed with that. Yet you call Tech players mercenaries.

Texas has the highest paid football roster. They have plenty of money to throw around. But Tech starts throwing money around and it freaks you out.

And as I have also pointed out A&M gets high profile transfers in most all our sports. Especially the ones that are doing well. So by your logic, they all are mercenaries.

I've made it clear we are only talking Softball and you continue to bring football into the conversation.

I'm sure every athlete at Texas, Texas A&M. Tech etc is getting some money or cashing in on NIL. That's great for all of them. What I'm saying is Texas, for now, Is doing the right and honorable way and winning with actual recruits and coaching unlike Tech who went to other schools and poached their best players with suitcases full of money. If you can't see that then there is no hope for you.

And yes, I have skin in the game for this particular team as a family member is part of it and I couldn't be more proud.

SIAP, news out of Norman is that OU starter Kasidi Pickering has entered the transfer portal. Though she had a slump at the end of the season, her overall numbers and credentials are very impressive. This one is a surprise.

Not when her Instagram was reposting Texas Tech softball stuff about the World Series and she played for Hotshots Nelson.

Pretty easy to understand the "no contact" designation and an eventual transfer to Texas Tech.

We have a portal visitor in town from LSU. 2 of top 10 portal players available are leaving LSU. I understand it is not Jayden Heavener (pitcher) or Tori Edwards (slugger). I could be incorrect on that, but understand that the portal visitor is a player that primarily came off the bench for LSU and pinch ran, played some defense, and also pinch hit.

McKee could be versatile weapon for the Aggies, and they could play her in a couple different spots. Although her career BA is .260, the staff has a great track record of developing portal prospects even in one year (See Wark or Edwards)."

That makes me nervous as a transfer "depth piece" with just one year of eligibility remaining would seem to indicate that we don't have a lot of expectations for our signing classes to fill those types of spots and that bar isn't super high.

First transfer in.

Just for fun, I did a quick look back at our series at LSU this year. The Tigers gave the junior (will be a senior for us next year) one plate appearance in our 3 games series this past season.

Game 1 - came in as a defensive replacement in game 1 in the 7th inning with LSU trailing 7-1
Game 2 - pinch hit in the 7th with LSU trailing 3-1 and was hit by pitch
Game 3 - pinch ran in the 5th inning

Are we falling behind in the transfer portal now? Next year already makes me nervous. Still early, but I hope this player is or expected to fill a huge role o this team. That would be very telling of where we are I the market

From what I have read online and in other threads, supposedly A&M is willing to spend big money to bring in some top transfers this offseason. I agree with others, don't really know how Mckee moves the needle.

Think there's a lot of overreaction on day 1. McKee brings depth to multiple positions and SEC experience. She was well liked at LSU and has a lot of connections to the area. A lot of current and former Ag softballers are elated she's coming to CSTAT. So maybe take a deep breath before labeling her a disappointment ffs.

Trisha has to respond. We need pitchers. We have to replace a few big bats. Two years in a row not making it past the regional is tough. I'm all for glue pieces like this, but if she is expected to be anything more than that I'd be worried

You're 100% right! The first ball that leaves the yard from a pitch thrown by an incoming transfer….sigh. It'll be like Pickens, Cannady, Frohm, or Kavan never did it multiple times last yr.

Some posters on the OU247 site think she's going to A&M or Tech. Since she entered the portal with "no contact" per above she already has her destination in mind.

I'd think thumbs upping an A&M transfer is a pretty good sign, but that's just reading the tea leaves.
