Alabama just got the toughest #1 seed bracket I can remember. (Yes - even ours last year) USL is scrappy, but also Belmont! They should win, but to me the other top seeds (2-4 overall) have easier paths.

In old school Louisiana directional nomenclature, USL is the current University of Louisiana (in Lafayette) - i.e. the Ragin Cajuns. They used to be the University of Southwestern Louisiana. I think they missed out on the softball tournament this year.

The team in Bama's bracket is actually SE Louisiana (in Hammond). They are SLU.

The other 2 Louisiana directionals:

NE Louisiana (in Monroe) is now Louisiana - Monroe. They were NLU.

NW Louisiana (in Natchitoches) is still just Northwestern St. They were NSU.

So, you used to have LSU, USL, SLU, NLU, and NSU.

We played Texas in Austin in the regular season last year, right?

So, if we advance and the super goes 3 games, would that not be 12 games in a row in Austin? Or am I wrong?

'24 super
'25 regular season
'26 regular season
'26 super

That's a load of crap.

I don't think we played them in reg season last year. We did beat them in the SEC tournament. Think we are 3-4 in last three seasons against them with 6 of those games in Austin?

Played them in the 2025 SEC Tournament, not regular season .

Did play in Austin the 2024 regular season.

I guess...so I am slightly less frustrated. Still, that would be 10 games against them in the last 3 seasons...none at home. And watch them mysteriously cycle off our schedule next year.

2017 was the last time we played Texas in College Station.

Boy who couldn't see this coming from a mile away. Get to play that dump in Austin if we win.

Nothing new there with the NCAA selections of putting us with tu and Coach Ford's former team of Az State

Both Arizona St. and Texas are appropriately seeded. As are we.

We should be pleased with tonight's selections.
Tied for 4th place in SEC gets the 2-seed overall. Lmao

We could have also been a 2 seed so no need to ***** over being paired up with the sips.

You keep posting this as if it's the only variable. Look at overall records and RPI and top 10 and top 25 wins. Based on all of that, where do you think us and Texas should be seeded?

IMO, we're lucky to be hosting.

Seems like Committee tries to give the overall No. 1 Seed a tougher than normal path. Putting Belmont in their bracket with possibly the best pitcher in the nation makes it extremely difficult as we all know a team can ride a single elite pitcher a long way in the Regionals. Would have liked to have seen Belmont go to the sips' regional

We know they get favorable treatment and wait until baseball we'll be matched up with them as well. Just funny how the ncaa thinks that **** is funny.

How did they get favorable treatment this year? How about baseball last year?

Not everything is a pro-Texas and anti-Aggie conspiracy.

Texas went 20-10 in Quad 1 games against a SOS ranked No. 5. I wouldn't have thought it amiss if OU was 2 and Texas the 3 seed though.

I'm not just picking softball I'm saying since they came in the sec they've had the easier road in every sport.

First yr football schedule was a dam joke. Baseball was as well. Why couldn't we had Texas cone here nope we had to go to Austin. When was the last series we played at A&M vs them? It's been awhile but yet they get the home series.

Man, yesterday I must have accidentally taken some hard drugs because I could just not wrap my head around the new seedings as the show was going on. It was simple as hell this morning when I looked at the bracket. I have to say that I like this new seeding of 1-32, hopefully they stick with it.

My understanding...

Over a four year period all SEC teams have series against each other at least once at home and away. Barring changes (ex: Vandy starts a program...) Longhorns will come to Davis next - either 2027 or 2028. So yes they may not be on our schedule next year but the next regular-season series will be at home.

In 2027 we will have a series against two SEC teams - one home one away - we played in 2026 (but flipping locations) and the six teams we did not. So look for Auburn, Tennessee and Mizzou at Davis, and Arkansas, Florida and Alabama in road series - opposite of 2025 locations.

This year we had repeats with LSU and Georgia (flipping locations) so they will not be repeated next year.

Agreed, but I dislike that they don't publish the actual 17-32 ranking the committee came up with. All we know is 5 seeds were 17-20, 6 are 21-24 etc. and they were placed in brackets that didn't create same-conference matchups.

My take - there isn't any difference between getting #1 seed vs #4 in the regional round. There is a difference in #4 vs #5, #8 vs #9 and #12 vs #13.

Seed #1 is paired with one of the 29-32 seeds (no longer geography-restricted) plus two teams not seeded 1-32.
Seeds #2, #3 and #4 - same.

Committee puts whoever they want in regionals using above criteria (and avoiding duplicate conference matchups), so even if Nebraska was #1 overall seed instead of #4 they could (in my opinion likely would) have the exact same teams in their regional.

The difference to me is really in the potential super-regional matchups - facing #13 vs #16.

All that said - Alabama has a tougher-looking regional than Texas/OU/Nebraska to me. No one wants Belmont in their bracket.

It is still supposed to be limiting plane trips. Seeds 1-4 end up matched against seeds 29-32. They are still supposed to pick those matchups by limiting plane trips and excluding conference matchups inside those two groups. There will be more plane trips then before as the potential 2 seeds for each team is much smaller (4 teams vs 16 teams), but they are still supposed to maximize bus trips when possible within those constraints.
