I am hoping this team can put it together at the SEC Tournament and win some games. Then get on a roll for the regionals.

RPI Thru 5/3/2026 (thru SEC Week 9 (end of SEC regular season))
Well, I failed to do this last week. But, one more view of RPI here as we close the regular season.
The SEC holds 6 of the top 8 spots in RPI (with Nebraska and UCLA being the other teams in that top 8). The big upward mover over the past 2 weeks was Missouri (up 9 spots) just by winning 1 of 3 against both Arkansas and Tennessee. And our Aggies were the biggest downward mover (down 5 spots) after losing series to South Carolina and Oklahoma.
I know there is other input into the bracket and host spots, but RPI says we have some work to do at the SEC tournament to get off the top 16 hosting bubble. So, lets get to it. First game is coming up Wednesday at 10 am against either Missouri or Auburn.
Movement as compared to the RPI from 2 weeks ago is listed in parenthesis after ranking.

Are the Aggies leaving today or tomorrow for the tournament?
Looks like the Aggies will be playing Auburn tomorrow morning, unless Missouri makes a miracle comeback. They are doen 6 to 2 with 2 out in the bottom of the 7th.
Auburn will be desperate to win - must beat A&M then Florida now or be ineligible for post season.
Would be great to see a few Aggie wins this weekend. If it happens it will likely be against teams we haven't faced this season until the final - which could also be a team we haven't seen yet if Tenn gets past OU.

The ladies have to take it one game at a time. As it was just shown in that Auburn game, anything can happen. The Aggies have to be prepared and ready to go.
On seeds - I don't think there will be much relative movement vs current rankings/RPI for SEC teams announced Sunday.
I do think Tech will be top 8, and if Oregon/UCLA are next to each other it would not surprise me if Oregon gets the higher seed.

So they have played a tough schedule and not done well but they do have a win over Florida. Need to play with as much fire as Auburn will bring.

The season and conference tournament is to get a seed. Then the slate is wiped and you're in a tournament for all the marbles!!!
Kennedy Powell has been selected for the Reserve Pool of the Athletes Unlimited Softball League. 21 players were chosen for this season, especially for the beginning when some players are in Japan for the conclusion of that pro season.

Selection Sunday just got a lot less comfortable
Odds of hosting just went down to about 10% as we came in on the RPI bubble.
It really stinks to do all that work in the middle of the season to get back in the hosting conversation (and actually on the good side of it) only to go 2-5 down the stretch and end here with one of your handful of worst losses on the season

Who knows. We won the series over both LSU and Georgia. Two teams we most likely will be compared to for one of the last spots.

Disappointing turnout today. I was at the games this past weekend and missed the only one we won (was driving in on Friday!) We looked better against #1 than we did today against Auburn. I hope Coach Ford and co can pull it out. I'm still disappointed we didn't manage to snag a consistent pitcher from the portal. Praying the Cody Campbells of TAMU will come through and buy us one.

We've got those things going for us as well as having a great facility to host these events at. So hopefully those items will carry the day. I'll up my percent chance of hosting to like 30%.
That may cost us. I was pretty confident in hosting, but now I don't know. Maybe 55/45.

She's had a Top 8 seed 3 times and failed to reach the WCWS twice (including last year's history making loss). She's lost twice in home regionals - last year and once at ASU - and once in a home super regional at ASU. Her record is something like 4-3 in post-season regionals her teams have hosted. That doesn't inspire much confidence.

We seem to peak early and are done when the post season starts. Lack enthusiasm.

It stinks losing today but we did win the SEC tournament last season. And took Texas to the edge two years ago in a super regional on the road. My advice is focus on everything not just the negative.

I did not mention this season at all in my post. But since you mentioned it, the SEC tournament falls into the end-of- season category. Thankfully there is more softball to be played.
Having been a season ticket holder for 15 years and a regular at Aggie softball games for 20 years, and looking at 50 in my rear view mirror, I think I've gained enough perspective to make sound judgments, so the advice really isn't needed. Thanks for the offer though.

It is all about pitching that Coach Ford and her staff need to upgrade if the softball team wants to improve going forward
I hope I don't come across as being a total pot banger when it comes to Aggie softball. It's not like I think Ford should be fired or anything, but I call things as I see them.
Ford and the program need support to get to the WCWS. It would be so much better to have some postseason success to sell to donors. Taking sip to game 3 of a super regional 2 years ago isn't going to be enough.

I agree. If we don't acquire a superior pitching squad with complimentary hitters we will be still be in the middle or lower. The pitching strategy today was sad. Seems like you would start in the middle (ie. Peters, then Kate and finish with Lessintine.Trisha has been a breath of fresh air, but as the pitching coach I feel she has tunnel vision thinking she can make everyone better. Although Kennedy had talent, she was a complete head case that took way too much of coach's time. I do like that she gives playing time to everyone which I'm sure the parents love. Something that JE never even considered.

You don't have to get on a soup box about your age. That just clarifies to me you are whinging.You are venting bc we lost on the 1st day we played of the tournament. Yet we won it last year. So venting about today's loss seems a little over the top to me.
My response to you was showing positives from Ford bc all you did was highlight negatives. When you cannot also post the positives, again it just comes across as venting or as you referred to it, pot banging.

3 seasons in Ford's coaching career (2018, 2022, 2025), the teams she has coached were seeded 8 or higher in the NCAA tournament. 8 seeds or higher have the opportunity to host both regionals and, provided you win the regional, super regionals.
As for the rest of your post, you think I'm whining, that's fine. You're flat out wrong but I'm not going to argue with you about it.
I've seen a lot of posts on the game thread and on premium about pitching the last couple weeks. Yesterday's game was not good, but I actually thought we pitched fairly well the last two weekends to close the regular season. We held Oklahoma well under their run average in all 3 games, and pitched well enough to have won that series. Same with Carolina. Pitching wasn't the reason we lost that series.
Something to keep in mind as we head into the regionals. For me, I'm not overly concerned about giving up runs as much as I am about getting those hits that score runs.

100%. Every post in the last few days can be traced back to pitching. Ford has had one true ace in her career (Kennedy) and she handled her really well. It sucks that she struggled against Liberty last year but it is what it is. One time is not a trend. Lets see if we can get another stud in the circle and see what happens. Now, if she in unable to recruit a big time arm, we may have to revisit things.
