Jim Schlossnagle set to leave Texas A&M for Texas head coaching job

Absolute betrayal to A&M but most of all to those young men who were robbed of having a coach who was being honest to them and focused on them. If I was a player's parent, I would be beyond livid. I hope he fails in spectacular fashion forevermore.

Makes sense. Personally, I thought A&M should have considered Steve Sarkisian after A&M fired Jimbo. Both ways would have been a big win for A&M ... TU would have likely had to overpay their coach to keep them (they would not stand losing him to A&M) or TU would have to accept being a stepping program to A&M in football (likely wouldn't happen) and lose momentum.

Rumors have been flying for awhile on him going to TU and got worse during the world series final so it definitely impacted us then. Sad to see it's a reality. At some point you have to commit the funds and go big. I heard there have been conflicts between the A&M management and the coach over the past 5 months so that definitely contributed to the departure along with funding.

Options such as selling naming rights to Kyle Field and other stadiums, joining the Big Ten (with clause on no other Texas teams), etc are all avenues we need to consider to increase our revenue as it's a money race now. Leasing out Kyle Field and other venues is a good start. Got to run things as a business in this world like a pro NFL team, it's not about traditions and historical rivalries. Need to adapt with the times.

You don't know what you are talking about! A&M worked to keep him, but he was born to be a sip! I personally spoke to a couple of people, in Omaha, who were working on doing whatever it took to keep him.

Think about the impact on our players playing last night, when tu announces, publicly, on the morning of the championship game, they are going after Schlossnagle!!!! CLASSLESS!!!

Going forward, I will never call anyone a ******-nozzle. From now on it will be ******-nagle.

And I thought the Vol's coach Vitale was the douch bag last night. Boy was I wrong.

Went to CWS with my son. News broke on flight home. He's 11. He asked, "why would our coach go to Texas?"

It's complicated son. People disappoint you. And they do things they regret.

It was classless to even consider another job during this run.

So fly higher Aggies. Fly higher. He is a crow. Be an eagle.

It sounds like Zane knew and the coach knew he knew.

This type of behavior will ruin the golden goose of college sports.

Well said. I (like everyone else) was pissed that tu broke their news yesterday with all the leaked rumors just to distract and cause turmoil. Knowing what we know now, with near certainty that Schloss had already decided he was going just makes it all the more ****ed up.

Like seriously, I can't imagine doing that to any fan base, let alone the fans OF THE TEAM I COACH FOR. There are some unwritten rules that you just don't break.

If reports are true, then A&M will find another coach capable of maintaining and building the program.
The coach doesn't seem to be very sincere and didn't seem to be a gameday coach the last couple of games. Didn't seem to get it done at the SEC tournament either. Maybe talks were going on then.... just saying...no proof...

Seriously, Mama called Bear home to Bama. (We got 'em back though by stealing Coach Fran). Billy couldn't pass up Kentucky, and really, who could blame him? The SEC is notorious for coach stealing and all types of questionable tactics to succeed. This betrayal hurts but it shouldn't be a surprise. The way that the story was rumored by tu shouldn't be a surprise either. Sleazebags be sleazebags.

He waits a couple of weeks it's one thing. To do it this way was intentful. I hope the players quietly let him know just what scum he is.

I guess Schloss wanted to go where he would get favorable home plate and replay umpiring instead of constantly getting ****ed by blue.

I hope this works out as well for the whorns as the Beard hire from Tech.
